I Wish Our Manager Would Say Something Like This

Liam Manning after Bristol City beat West Ham.

We said it from day one, our front players have to be our best defenders,” Manning added. That mentality that everybody buys into defending, everybody buys into attacking, everybody has to contribute.

It’s easy to come up with platitudes when you just won a game….sound bites even😂
Phooey. That's stating expectations, giving accountability to players as individuals and as a team and giving focus to coaching sessions. You get nothing for nothing in life. They earned their victory. Nil Sin Labore.

Didn’t do Latin at school…nobody after all speaks it,so we were told😂.by the way you didn’t actually spell it correctly😉.….and it’s what Critchley actually says to the players not the media that matters.

It's Baines school motto so it was for that lot. You seem lost. Obviously, it's what Manning said to his players and repeated to the media. What matters is not words but actions. The power of words is what actions they lead to.

Went to Arnold School ( 1962 to 1968) too far from Baines to matter😂as for my old school motto no idea, hated the place so no interest.

You missed nothing at Baines. Some teachers were lazy, some well past their sell by date and most would not be allowed in a classroom today.

You know how much times have changed when you think back that taking the train from Squires Gate Station to St.Annes and then walking back along the sand dunes was our end of school holiday excitement for me and my pals or us all going by train from Blackpool north to see a school friend in Poulton was like a major event.
They were steam trains of course, hence the joy😂

ps we didn’t walk back from Poulton…too far😉

This is literally the basics of football.
Basics of football huh? We’re halfway through the season, how often have you seen us do that this season? We’ve given away some very soft goals this season. Let’s see how much space and time we give away tonight. I hope none but I’m an optimist.

Honor virtutis praemium. Consider yourself in detention.
Fess…I was probably far too often so much so I still remember the school hymn, well most of it,having spent one’s useful ( sic) time writing it out instead of studying because it was punishment,as if home work wasn’t enough.

Now thank we all our god
with hearts and hands and voices
who wondrous things has done

etc etc

might explain why I don’t go to church either😂

...he continued 'the best way to win a game is to kick the ball in to their goal more times than they kick it in to ours'

So you start off your thread asking why Critch doesn’t give the same post match summary as the Bristol manager did after they beat a Premiership team, then you go on on to slag the team off for giving away some”very soft” goals, and then despite declaring yourself as an optimist you say let’s see how much time and space we give away tonight.
What has that got to with your O/P ?
Wonder if he said that after the defeats against PNE, Southampton, Norwich, Blackburn or Millwall.
Of course he didn’t and after a win all managers use platitudes in their post match interviews, especially if they have beat a higher team.
And if you want to hear Critch do the same then stay tuned for his interview after the game.

Sorry you can’t follow a thought process. See earlier answers and that might help you out. As stated before nothing to do with after match platitudes and everything to do with establishing a methodology, expectations and thus accountability of your team. Slagging off you might want to look up as well. Stating facts is not slagging off. Take a look at forests goals in the first match. Poorly marked is being charitable. Not marked for the first and not closed down for the second. For their second he has all the time in the world to look up and decide what he’s going to do and then with no pressure take his shot.
