Ian Brunskill - Assistant Manager joins.

So much for the ITK posters who said Thomo. 🙄

Never heard of him but few had heard of Critchley before he came here.

Welcome onboard Ian. 👍
Disagree about Critchley, plenty knew who he was because of the fact he managed Liverpool's 2 games in Klopp's absence.

This bloke however, no idea

Blackpool Football Club can confirm that Iain Brunskill is to join Neil Critchley’s backroom staff as an Assistant Head Coach.

Currently working in the role of Senior Development Coach at Norwich City, the 45-year-old has a wealth of coaching experience, both in the UK and overseas, spanning 22 years.

On the books of Liverpool as a player, Brunskill started his coaching career with the Reds in 1998 as Assistant Academy Technical Director for ten years, prior to linking up with Blackburn Rovers to become Reserve Team Manager and then First-Team Coach.

A Youth Coach educator for the FA, he has expanded his horizons working as a Head Coach of Floriana in Malta, the Olympic U23 Coach of Jordan, Head of Academy at Molde in Norway and National Coach of the Chinese FA’s Technical Department.

Officially starting with the Seasiders on Saturday, he replaces Stuart McCall in the position at Bloomfield Road.

On the appointment, Neil Critchley said:

“I’m delighted that Iain has decided to join us. He’s followed a similar path to myself in terms of coaching in the academy and working his way up to coaching at first-team level. I think he’s the ideal person to come in and complement our coaching staff and help develop the players we have at the Club.

“We thought long and hard about the type of person we wanted to bring in and Iain ticks all of the boxes that we wanted from that person. He's a football man, a really good coach and he won’t be afraid to offer his opinion.

“He’s an important addition and we’re really looking forward to working with him.”

It’s been 12 weeks since Stuart McCall left, that’s some time we’ve been searching for his replacement so he must be highly thought of and regarded in the game, welcome onboard!

Good appointment another man with lots of contacts and knows the young talented footballers out there

I quite like the sound of him, tons of experience, will be on a similar wavelength to Critch who will know him quite well I imagine. Much in the same way the players that we are bringing in fit into the way we are going about things it seems now the recruitment of coaching staff and assistants is following a trend that appears to suit what we are trying to build longterm for the future of the club.

A pattern & a plan with recruitment at all levels is what we are seeing come together under Saddler rather than the "we'll get who's left " approach previously

We wobbled after McCall went, but have steadied the ship a little now (we’ll done Critch and the players for that) - just hope mr burnskill can have the same impact as the previous two excellent assistants - 10% more as a team, and we are a real handful in this league

Bournemouth will be a big test and at our best we will test them - Mr Parker under more pressure than ou4 coaches

Good. The last thing a a manager needs is a set of coaches who are just nodding dogs.
Added to his widespread experience, this looks like a valuable appointment.

And the fact that he looks like a provincial crime lord can only be a plus.
Critch can be the players' pal, this guy can scare the shit out of them....
"Listen son, if you take one more corner that doesn't beat the first man, the jump leads will be coming out"

Another addition to the Bloomfield Boot Room 👍

Let's hope he sticks around for more than one season! He's very much a "developmental coach" in the Critchley mode and not the experienced, seen it all, done it type assistant in the McCall/Calderwood category. I have to admit I was kind of hoping Thommo would make a return as his Championship level knowledge could have been an invaluable asset this season and beyond.

Yeah after checking his LinkedIn, because I’ve got nothing better to do with my time, I am impressed. Certainly looks a positive appointment to me.

As long as he's someone who can tap NC on the shoulder during games and say ' we'd be better if.....' and NC listens he should be what is needed.

I hope because of the Liverpool connection it all isn't a little too cosy.
