He got the absolute best out of the players and always told them they were good enough for the prem, giving them confidence to go n prove him right and the many doubters wrong. There was NO little Blackpool talk on his watch. It’s a pity subsequent managers didn’t go down the same road. N we find ourselves in league 1.

He always understood that a team of XI was better than eleven better quality individuals. Which has to be the maxim in any league.
