Ick Players

Do we have more ‘ick players’ thank usual.
Those who divide opinion or some fans just have a dislike of - I can think of at last half a dozen in our current squad.

Name the players that you feel divide opinion? I'd probably say Carey, Morgan and CJ are the main 3 but hopefully in Carey and CJs case they are starting to win most over.

Oakley-Boothe is the latest. Seems everyone is writing him off already, his first two appearances in Tangerine have been poor to be fair.

Hamilton before his run of good form seemed widely disliked. You hear him get pelters at games, when he is off it he is a frustrating figure!

Madine was another, my old man hated him. There was loads of shouts of "get ** Madine off" last season in the North. He got subbed once and a fairly loud cheer rang round, I think that's awful when fans do stuff like that.

Oakley-Boothe does not divide opinion, I've not heard one of our fans say anything positive about him! 😂

I have said all along there is a good player there but he needs to show more intensity and become more involved in the game.
He also passes the ball for the sake of it at times instead of being more positive, that could be a confidence factor. Sometimes with
players like Oakley Boothe it has to happen for them instead of making it happen !
A stretch of 20 plus games might do it but I dont think that will happen here. This could well be his last chance saloon.

If Oakley-Boothe plays 20 games we have zero chance of going up.

Many fans seem to think it's like football manager the computer game IMO. Oakley booth is 23, and some players by that age have played 100 games and are the finished article, some really aren't but can still come good with time and minutes in men's football. He may work out decent for us, he may not, I've not seen enough to make a final judgement either way.

Similar with Carey, he's young still and still improving and looks just the last couple of games like the confidence is coming. He's played more games thank OB though and I do think will come good. He's got all the attributes, just needs to put it together consistently.

Thought this was going to be about Blackpool players with -ick at the end of their names e.g. Suddick. TBH after that I am struggling

Kouassi has now been added to the list. Our resident experts have him down as a hopeless big lump, who only played well against Liverpools kids (albeit kids that were older than he is)

Lavery too. Seen many on here saying he’s not good enough, slow, unfit, overweight?

I wouldn’t say hopeless. He’s got plenty of time to improve and hopefully he will but as of right now he’s no where near good enough

Oakley Boothe is a victim of the overhanging atmosphere from last season.

We signed some absolute duds who were either injury prone or unwanted or both last season because they were cheap.

The fact we had OB on trial but didn’t sign him for a while has led people to believe he wasn’t really wanted and that he was just the cheapest option, similar to the likes of Bridcutt/Grant Ward last season. Whether that’s true or not it’s what people think, and because of that he was wrote off by some before he kicked a ball.

Doesn’t help or course that he’s been completely anonymous in every game he’s played.

I hope he does, he does have quality but his problem for me is in his head & our qualified coach needs to motivate him instead of making him play to a system that stagnates him & others IMO

Interesting thing is his pedigree and I do wonder if he's gone a bit backwards since joining us under Critch who is considered a master coach?

Head Coach Neil Critchley said:

“Tashan is a player I’ve been aware of for a number of years from his time at Tottenham and as an England youth-international.

“He has a willingness to learn and continually improve, so we hope that if he is given the right environment, a system and a style of play that suits his attributes, then he will prove to be a very good player for us.

“He impressed us all with his ability and attitude during pre-season and we look forward to adding him to our squad.”

Kouassi is quality and people need to remember his age when being critical. He had part of a season in League 2 before joining us and playing alongside Rhodes will be massive for his development.

I watched Oakley-Booth on Tuesday and he's a neat and tidy player but just lacks anything else. He's probably one of these who is in football to get some free Predator boots and have 'footballer' on his Tindr profile than he is bothered about his actual game.
