If Appleton gets the sack……

Can’t wait to trust the process of the people who appointed Appleton.

The guy nobody wanted & they haven’t backed. They did such a great job.

Yeh I’m sure they’ll do another top job of recruiting just like our transfers 😴
Tbf the record of appointments is a crap one then a good one.

We had Grayson, then Critchley.

Appleton (whilst not crap was never the choice to get fans buzzing and would never get as much time)

Surely if there is a next one it'll be a good one.....

Like big Sam or something.

Dyche don't want him anywhere near the club his football albeit effective at times is dire. Rob was sacked after was it 10 games? 3 wins five draws and two defeats something like that, that's just Watford that would sack him at that point.
You wouldn’t have Dyce at the club but you’d jump at the chance to have Rob Edward at the club. I don’t really want to have an argument with you or anything like that mate but this sums up not only our fan base but football fans in general.

Ones built multiple football clubs and kept a small regional town’s team in the premier league and made it into Europe one year the other bought his way out of league two.

Know which one I’d rather have.

But ultimately that wasn’t really my point, my point was we really are in trouble here. If one of the options to remedy the situation is firing Appleton - ok fair enough, I wouldn’t but it’s not great right now. Then who replaces him? If Rob Edwards walked in the door on Monday I’d just turn around and think, really!? Wtf was the point in firing Appleton. Dyce walks through the door, ok we’ve a chance.

Btw Dyce is so unrealistic it’s hardly worth talking about, but Rob Edwards probably is realistic and that’s my point, what is there to differentiate between him and Appleton? Then if not RE who? Michael O’Neil 🤷‍♂️ We might as well see what Appleton can do.

Why’s he going nowhere? Wigan gave Richardson a 3 year extension 3 weeks ago and sacked him Thursday! This 4 year contract will have break clauses in that will release all parties from the contract and there will be financial penalties but not the cost of his remaining contract duration. If it doesn’t then Ben Mansford should be sacked immediately for committing commercial suicide!
And replace him with who..? The budget won’t allow for say a Dych or similar proven manager, so it’s likely to be someone similar to Appleton imo…who will then struggle with what’s at his disposal like Appleton is doin..

Do you remember the Critchley search.

It was shambolic.

for me down to football philosophy, I see my team as a footballing team rich in history of playing the beautiful game. A huge difference in salary too. You could get a very good manager for the salary Dyche would want. I would have Kompany over Dyche and Edwards!!

Its gonna be a long season for sure. Im happy it will turn around in the new year. Gutted of course as I was when Barnet tubbed us. Life moves on as a seasider.

Appletons schtick is to play fast expansive attacking football.

Problem solved.

I didn’t mention replacing him kms, l was merely suggesting that the 4 year contract was not a decisive holding factor if that makes sense, but for what it’s worth l haven’t got a clue who would replace him!

We know what Appleton can do. He’s not a young up and coming manager.

Yep and I've said it was obvious what we needed then, a fresh start bot someone we'd had before.

We met Critchley leaving, a negative, with bringing in an old manager no one wanted at the time, a negative, that with the summer killed the feelgood factor somewhat.

Problem now is were now in a shite position, negativity around so if we do make a change yes they will get more time if people don't dislike them feom th off, but it'll be harder for then if were doing badly.

Tough times.

What would you do? Going to be extra tough to survive without the fans on side as much.

I'll have a crack at it.....
On the upside, I live locally.... (that's probably the only upside in appointing me tbh, but hey ho!)
The downside is my lack of tactical nous, limited management skills, and I might drift off into a world of my own while I'm in the technical area....
I realise this might hold me back at my tilt of managerial glory, but I'm nothing if I'm not ambitious and hopeful....!
Mine is an altogether different approach, not seen at Bloomfield Road before.....
Oh..... hang on a minute 🙈.

(p.s. I'll be cheap to pay off...!)

I would use the next month to get the players back from injury, try identify why they are getting injured so much- we had lots of hamstring injuries last year too.

Then get that half arsed recruitment team to actually source some players, who we can get and have a clear proper process, ready to roll on January 1st. We need to sort the spine of the team now. Centre half, centre midfielder, centre forward, the lack of options in this position has killed us last month & it’s not Appletons fault. None of these stupid half arsed bids for players coming to the end of their contract, Barlaser for £500,000 was beyond stupid. Real bid, proper terms, done.

The games up to NYD give us a clearer picture.

The sad thing is though hearing that today I think he’s fooked with half-3/4 of our fanbase.

That’s why the board not backing him and letting Bowler go on top of not securing players is an absolute piss poor show. Nobody wanted him, it’s not a new concept, the moment results turned he was always gonna get it off most our fans 🙃

If he gets sacked ( he won't )
Steven Schumacher
Mark Bonner ( no not that one )
Richie Wellens
Rob Edwards

4 to be going on with and not necessarily in that order Mr Preview ( M & W reference for those old enough )

Word for word Neil McDonald’s interview pitch

Rob Edwards or Keith Southern? Southern is highly regarded at Everton.

I would say Evatt but there's no chance currently unfortunately

The break and getting players back obviously helps.

The fans today despite the tough circumstances were with the team during the game, obviously the team didn't help us and with 10 men had almost nothing to offer 2nd half.

I think fans will back the team always but its not going to be helpful knowing there's that big disconnect, were already seeing with Grimshaw what that can look like, if fans aren't happy with the manager, players not playing who think they should, can cause disharmony.

The recruitment team might not be at fault, if we have a budget they can identify all the targets in the world, but we have to be able to afford them and secure them. Also by the time Jan comes around we may still be doing badly, who wants to join a club in a relagation place as much.

Also more pressure on the new players coming in.

Yeah I said if Bowler goes that money has to go back in, tbh with that and the Critch cash we could have got a CB, CM, striker of a higher quality than we've ever had.

That was the idea and infact the model the club is meant to be growing with.

Yeah always on the cards of it went wrong, regardless of how unlucky we've been etc. Theres still some blame on the manager as he's responsible for results and they've been too poor, far too many stinkers, weak defending etc. Unlucky yes and not well backed but still.

I’ve said it plenty of times and I’ll say it again - there’s one manager who’s an absolutely perfect fit, out of work, has a great record at this level, knows the squad, coaching staff and set up at Blackpool FC better than anyone else and is a top class coach who knows how to improve the players we’ve got and fix pretty much all the problems we currently face. It’s Critchley.

If he has absolutely any interest in being a manager again and wants to make things right then we’ve all got to swallow our pride, stop acting like broken hearted teenage girls and welcome him back. Critchley keeps this squad up. Critchley puts the whole project back on track.

Whoever we fetch in needs to be just til the end of the season so we don't get stuck with another Manager who ain't delivering! Short term I would go for Micky Mellon
