I think that's our only option really, the only alternatives are to put CJ in there somehow, which I wouldn't like in the midfield three.

An alternative, I'd love to see, but I doubt will happen would be a midfield triangle headed by Apter in advance of Dougall and Connolly.

I get that Corbeanu scored in that first half but we were dominated at Burnley in the first half.

It was only until Gaz came on for Corbenau and we relied more on Lavery to be a bit of a terrier behind Yates and Gaz that things really progressed going forward.

It’s a tough one, out of all the midfielders we have I think I’m coming to the conclusion only Connolly is suited or really talented enough to play in a midfield three.

Pantino, probably will do a good job once he’s there, been very underwhelmed by Fiorini if I’m honest and players like Virtue, Dougall and Carney have, in honesty struggled to get to grips with playing in a flat line three.
 
I can see a 4-4-2 line up with big Gaz.
It could be dressed up as a 4-2-1-3 with Jerry in the 10 role. He’s certainly got the energy to drop into midfield and the skill to create, but ultimately it’s still 4-4-2 Lavery left, Bowler right.

Or as op suggests, Virtue comes in
