If Gary Bowyer is appointed ......

At some point we are going to get a manager that does something like that. You know why? Because it's a way of celebrating with the fans when we are successful. Just because Critch did it (when he was successful) doesn't mean we should be so down on a bit of celebrating with our manager in the future. It's all part of the fun.

Ok

One fist pump max Billy Ayre style. Thats it.

What about a foot pump?
do you mean a hopping sort of covid thing with the foot or are you proposing a future manager carries a portable pump (intended to be operated by hand but having a bracket or stirrup so that it can be held in place by the pressure of the foot) onto the pitch to initiate a reciprocal exhortation from the North? If the latter, I don't think it will catch on.

I must admit, I hadn't thought it through...

The thing with Critchley was he disappeared into thin air after a poor performance / defeat, sometimes not even thanking the fans. That’s why I couldn’t stomach his winning celebrations.

Billy Ayre style will do for me, win, lose or draw.
Glad you picked up on this as well @TimperleyTangerine - for 18 months I liked what he brought to us but could never warm to or like the guy. Never stayed to do that daft cheer.

Not sure how I'd feel about Bowyer. I don't remember his football being particularly good, and he's also a bit bland from memory.

Also, if we're going down the youth development route, is he really the man to do it?

l can’t believe for one moment that Simon would want to bring back in another ex manager having had his fingers financially burned on 2 previous occasions. He will know that he’s got to get the fans and club united again otherwise the wrong appointment will be reflected in ST and merchandise sales.

Agree. No chance.

After retiring as a player, Bowyer began his coaching career working part-time at Ilkeston before being appointed as under-17s coach at Derby County, where he spent six years as an academy coach. He then became under-18s coach for Blackburn Rovers in 2004.[9] He became their reserve-team manager in 2008

Not his choice to leave.
He was on a rolling 1 year contract, and he’s left by mutual agreement. He misses his family and as I’ve stated elsewhere, Dundee have just 2 contracted players for next season and a huge amount of work to do. Add to that, he doesn’t get on with the managing director and Strachan is a difficult character too.

I don’t think this necessarily means he’s coming to us.

Shame GB didn't know about the mutual consent bit. He's put a statement out saying how disappointed he is not to be allowerd to manage them in the SPL.

They’ve agreed to disagree, it is not a sacking.

His ‘ask’ for next season, in terms of building a competitive squad was not going to be met by the club. The club has 2 contracted players for next season and any manager would want that reassurance. It’s a huge job up there and there is ill-feeling towards the MD.

Keep in mind he left Blackpool for similar reasons when on a rolling 1 year contract.

It doesn’t really matter, because it’s unlikely he’s coming to us.
