ifollow Typical EFL

During the last 2 games I couldn't get it to work on my smart TV & posted on the match thread if anyone could help, but got no replies. On Googling it I found it doesn't support watching on a smart TV "yet" The streams via the club worked fine. So with all the money the EFL waste on waffle & expense accounts etc they can't even get this right & suggest messing about with HDMI leads, laptops & FFS phones (I'd need a magnifying glass to see the ball) I've eventually found a contact form & sent them a polite but snotty message for what it's worth. No doubt it'll be brought up for discussion in the next meeting then referred for further discussion by which time it won't matter as we'll be back in the grounds or so they hope. 🤬 I'll post any reply I get, but I'll be shocked if that useless shower do anything about it & quickly.

Get a cheap second hand chrome book and cast it to your telly.

Yeah I did it through laptop & chromecast, but my point is the stuff put out by the club works fine, but the EFL is not supported which is very poor. Brother in law who's disabled totally relies on me bringing him round to watch at our home, whereas he could watch on his smart tv when we go away, which is quite often.

Why you blaming the EFL because you not very Tech savy?
Amazon firestick is a peace of piss to use with a telly. 👍

l watched it last night on my LG SMART TV via a HDMI cable from the laptop. Had problems getting a picture so contacted iFollow via online chat and they advised using Google Chrome as opposed to Microsoft Edge and it worked. Unfortunately the picture was very jumpy and l find the picture quality on the iPad is much better.

You'd also think they could employ their own commentators and get better people on the replays!
Why you'd have been lucky if Tuesday nights game generated more than 5 grand in income and that has to be split three ways!
Your not going to get a production company out for that pittance of cash.
If clubs want and can afford to offer a better product then so be it but lower league football ain't Sky or BT so what's currently on offer is OK.

I’ve been trying to watch the games on my tv through a fire stick. I’ve had massive problems with buffering and locking out when going through I-follow, to the point I’ve had to watch on my phone, but the Liverpool game (through LTV GO) was perfect.

Yet it's ok for 6,000 to watch for free on a hooky service. That's my point about people taking money away from the club. You pay peanuts, (or nothing), and you get monkeys (or Chisnall, as wee know him)

Ifollow deliberately doesn't have the cast option to TVs in the same way as say Youtube or Netflix can for example.

I assume its to stop Pubs showing it on big screens, or something. I think one of the pre-season games was shown via the clubs Youtube channel and that's different from the Ifollow option and for that one you would have been able to cast it to the TV i think. (I didn't try)

There might be a way around it if you are a tech nerd, but if like me you have a Smart TV with just a Chromecast then I think the best you can do is watch it on your PC or laptop or tablet.

If anyone knows different let me know.

To watch it on my smart tv i play it on my iPhone and air stream it too my tv. Never had a problem, but I know that Ifollow is a poor service for what they charge

I managed to log in to ifollow on the browser on my smart tv and view videos on it, so I'm assuming I will be able to watch live streams through it too.
LFC TV worked fine that way, and the inplayer service we used for Everton/Blackburn. The key thing was to set up all accounts, payments etc on the PC or phone, so that all you have to do on the TV is log in and view.

You can cast it from your laptop to a chrome cast on your tv, use chrome as your browser. It’s just the tv browser & ifollow that aren’t compatible. Which as I said is poor.

Ethernet direct From your router to your tv not work either ?

That was my gripe it wouldn’t work on ifollow without HDMI leads but was fine for the games you mentioned.

I've a laptop and I couldn't get a picture on I Follow until 30 minutes for both the Stoke and Barrow games so I don't know what was happening there!

I always log on as early as possible which gives you an opportunity to use online chat to sort out the gremlins
I think the camera was online about an hour before kick off on Tues.

Bloody hell they replied. Doubt they'll do anything though.

Thank you for your email, we acknowledge your position and that of your Brother-in-Law and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.

At this stage, (whilst you are welcome to try it linking up to your TV via a HDMI cable) we would advise that the iFollow service is only setup for desktop or app/tablet use. Desktop therefore means the live video iFollow service isn’t available through TV apps, Apple TV, AirPlay, Firestick or Chromecast.

I have passed your comments on to the relevant team as this may be something that is looked at in the future.

Thank you for contacting the EFL.

Kind Regards

My smart tv has an option in source for screen mirror! then just go to duplicate screen on your comp/laptop.
But I choose to use a laptop with HDMI as it is better quality and the tv recognizes it automatically.
