In a game we simply have to win……

Hardly agree with anything that Critchley says. With half a dozen matches to the end of the season then you should be putting your best 11 players out there every game. This is the time when they need to show what they're made of, bust a gut, die for the club etc. etc. to achieve what is necessary. Not playing the squad rotation game. Who does he think we are ffs? City, Real Madrid?

No he couldn't.

Let's not make a player into something he's not. You don't suddenly become a better footballer and able to do the basics just because you're right wing or left wing instead of right wingback or left wing back.

It's the biggest myth on this forum that CJ Hamilton is a good footballer if "used right".
That’s not what I meant at all.

Imo CJ should be used as an impact sub, 1/2 hr from end of matches against tiring defences.
He should be highest up the pitch, hanging around the offside trap.
He should be supported by someone like Rhodes, to finish off the move.
But we still lack creativity in midfield to make that killer pass. Norburn was the wrong signing on the evidence so far.
We don’t create space and the players are either instructed not to create space, or they are clueless. It’s likely the former. It’s all too predictable.

Should've started with Dembele behind 1 of Kouassi/Beesley and 1 of Lavery/Joseph instead he played 2 runners together with nobody capable of playing a through ball, then subbed them for 2 big centre forwards with nobody running off them!
Critchley has lost it!
I don’t think he ever had it. He got lucky in his first spell, he has now been found out. Luck is temporary, talent is permanent.

No good being the fastest player in the league if you can’t play football. CJ was not good enough last time in league one and certainly not good enough this season, if we are relying on players like CJ then it’s amazing people think we should be higher than we are
What’s even more amazing is a new 3 year contract. Shows the height of the club’s ambition.

In my opinion Norburn wasn’t a bad signing before we signed him, the manager has ruined him along with a few others unfortunately

My personal opinion is, we have players who aren’t being helped by rigid structures and systems. I don’t think this formation benefits any outfield player?

There’s a few who have got nothing about them and just go through the motions.

Called it at the time but January was a piss poor transfer window. We needed a striker. Letting Dale go and Apter out on loan showed he was sticking to his precious 3 at the back and wing-back system which is benefitting nobody.

I’ve got it about 75% on the Head coach and 25% on the players.
Must be soul destroying for the players knowing that the best XI aren't playing together, system doesn't suit, subs basically told to 'go and make a difference' aka run round like a headless chicken and players not being in positions to play to their potential.

There has been a systematic destruction of the confidence and ability of several players having been made to play a system that neither suits them nor their ability as a player.
I refuse to criticise any of our players other than CJ or Connolly who are stealing a living at the club in my view, but I do sympathise with them as Crotchless persisted with them when one is clearly not good enough and the other downed tools as soon as his agent mugged us off..
Most of the other players are failing in a flawed system.

Think lots of people underestimate this.

A football changing room is as bad as any normal workplace if not worse for opinionated people having their view or ideas on what should be happening… there will be some who’ve seen NC 1st time to the one this time and won’t be having him at all…

That’s not a team I’ve seen in the last 3 games desperate to get in the play-offs or playing for a manager. Byers doesn’t seem quiet so I bet he’s wondering what the F is going on here…

There’s been a few whispers regarding the rigid structure and shadowing in the game & they’ll playing like they are as cured of it as we all are.

I also think it’s why we don’t have much character or much about us in matches as it’s not looked for recruitment wise and coached out.

It’s a world away from how he had us playing with Josh Bowler.

The one thing I have mentioned a couple of times over the last couple of months is his favouritism with Connolly(especially) & CJ which must have rankled quite a few actual football players not even getting on the bench.

Critchley always says that they sign players with good character, I wish we would sign a few spiky characters that have strong opinions and a good work ethic and aren't afraid to upset a few if they feel they aren't doing their job properly, that includes the head coach!
I think we generally sign nice lads that won't rock the boat who always turn up on time for their dull training sessions, before quietly going home to play on the x box and occasionally go to Nandos for their tea.
