In Critchley I’m not sure I do trust!

Better bench than some of those starting positions - fully expect us to be chasing the game 😳
That’s what I wrote on today’s team news thread and I wrote exactly the same when we played Derby.
Critch seems to shit himself if we play more than one game a week at home!
No one would criticise a manager for starting with his strongest side but he seems to have a bit of a death wish.

The thing is, what is our ‘straightest side’? Gutted that Norburn wasn’t available today as that was definitely his kind of game.

I would always feel more comfortable seeing Norburn and Dougall start in the mid with any of Dembele, Carey or Morgan in front.

Every time we get a bit of momentum Critchley has the knack of taking the wind out of our sails by being overly cautious or tinkering with a winning team for no obvious reason.

No one in their right mind would have picked Carey and Oakley Booth in front of Dembele.

When we attack teams with Dembele, Dale and CJ etc they simply can't live with us.

His lack of spine is going to cost us promotion when we should be going up automatically in what is a very poor league.

I have just called it cowardice on another thread and he must have balls the size of peanuts.

What must he say to the players also before they go out? be on guard lads its Brazil out there today.

This. ^

Every other week he frustrates the Hell out of me. He’s holding us back.

Not enjoying this season at all. Between the moaning and carping about fans groups and the safety first treadmill football on the pitch it's really killing the joy of matchday. Not good.

Critch needs to get a good, strong experienced number 2 like he had with Calderwood to help him make the big decisions especially with team selections.

Yeah bizarre selection leaving out Dale, Dembele etc and playing Carey and Oakley-Boothe.

Peterborough are always a good side at this level so you could accept a loss but it's that feeling that we came out hamstrung by the selection and tactics. Was the same last season when we constantly left out Poveda, Bowler and others.

So you're saying we need to get a good manager in, cos the one that Sadler gifted the job to can't do it properly!
Critchley is not a manager he’s a coach. It’s no coincidence that he was successful when Calderwood came in as his No.2 when he struggled as sometimes his team selections and tinkering around leave a lot to be desired, today was a classic example. I'm not criticising Critch but like most l do question his team selections at times, today he got it badly wrong ant it cost us IMO!

We need the AVFTT collective to select the team & I’ve said it before we could do better, given the fitness information etc.

I don't want to lay into a young player and I won't but I really don't get the decision to prefer Oakley-Boothe to Dembele or indeed Morgan
I was at Oxford and it was clear there he wasn't yet ready to start

Same re Oxford; we looked miles better when Oakley-Boothe and Carey were swapped for Morgan and Dembele.

Even from the little we have seen of Dembele, it's clear he has that spark/quality to turn a game around and get a goal from nowhere, like with Bowler. He also gets the best out of CJ, allowing him to get further up the pitch. Baffling as to why he's not starting.

If our ambition is promotion, as it should be, we shouldn't be lining up cautiously, especially at home, against any side in this division.

I remain unconvinced that Critchley is the right man to consistently get the best out of our very strong squad. There is no point in castigating individual players it's a team game and the manager sets the team up. It still may turn out fine, there have been improvements but unless we're firmly established in the playoffs come Christmas other plans need to be made.

Our 'straighest side'? I'm sorry, but since when did the sexual orientation of our players become a part of the team selection process?

Settle down. I was quoting the O/P who has since edited the word to ‘strongest’. Must of been a typo.

I said exactly the same TAM. And it was obvious to all in the stand at Oxford that he’s just not ready. So why then start him against another top 6 side? If NC was desperate to give him game time it should have been on Tuesday against the side bottom in the league

He is just out to constantly justify his genius coach status by changing things up in random ways so when it comes off his legend grows. We should be top three with a settled side. But that’s not important…it’s his genius that must be shown to the world. Ably supported by supporters that hate the fanbase itself.

Take gun. Shoot foot. Get treatment. Shout told you so. Loudly. Shoot foot again. Repeat.

You could accept losing games due to tinkering from this manager, if there was a possibility of him getting removed from his post at some point down the line. Unfortunately, under the present regime it isnt going happen anytime soon. Something the fans have to live with I guess. Hence why I didn't buy a season ticket this year once I knew who we were getting.

Little chance of a Changing of the Guard anytime soon, I'm afraid, Mr T. You'll just have to suffer through Tears of Rage, I guess.

No tears of rage here my friend I don't have sit and watch the rubbish served up. I made my descision before a ball was kicked.

That was a poor starting team today
And it was pretty obviously so
Critchley should come and stand in the concourse pre-match - everyone was saying exactly those words.
In some ways I'd have got it if he'd started that team against Cheltenham and played Wednesday's team on Saturday or will he choose a strong squad for Fleetwood because he's trying to duck the big games (as he did against Derby!) with a weaker side and play his stronger sides against the weaker teams? If so, God help us against Bolton!

A successful team in any league needs to have positivity, just look at the buzz Holloway created in our Championship promotion campaign. Critchley is far too negative when it’s clear that we have the better players over most teams in this division. Hopefully he is learning this (after his match comments against Peterborough) so he still gets a last chance to convince me.

Fans also need to stop booing and help create this buzz but ultimately it’s down to Critchley to play the football that creates this momentum.

He needs that No 2.

I'm not going to lay into the idiot, but he's no manager. A good coach it would seem, so SS do NC a favour, get an exp. No 2 and tell NC to concentrate on the conework. Don't ask him, just do it as people have said listening to his interviews (not me) he has thick skin so will get over it.

All based on the belief that NC won't get potted this season or next.
