He's only 23, CA would've been entitled to compensation if they'd offered him a contract, so in the circumstances, I suspect they didn't.

I wonder if they're running out of money, in which case a low-ball bid for Kirk might be on the cards.
Sounds like it just wasn't really working out, fans on his case, time for a change. Bit of remedial work for Critch.

their forum: "Personally I hope he does well, but not so much that it bites us on the arse. He needs a fresh start where the baggage isn't there.

"ok so that's blackpool out of the promotion running , oh no he's a good squad player

"His agents done well there!

"I'm quite surprised he's got a decent contract at a club of their stature. I'd expected him to move to a club further down the league or maybe even into League Two.

"He's done very well there. 3, possibly 4 year deal with a team who have just come down from the Championship. I don't know what Blackpool's finances are like right now, I feel like I look away for a second and they've switched from ok to teetering on the edge, but I don't think many of us would have tipped Albie as being picked up by one of the recently relegated Champ sides. I can't be bothered to look on Blackpool Life or whatever but they'll see a player who got 3 goals and 6 assists last season and has just shy of 150 appearances at Championship and L1 level by 23 so I imagine their fans will be happy. It will be very interesting to see how he gets on.

If they thought they could get a fee for him he would have been offered a new contract - Keshi going in the opposite direction?

"Thorniley's nothing special, we could do better".

Their manager thought enough of him to start most games, this looks at worst a decent acquisition.

Picking up a rivals cast offs 🤔 happy to be proven wrong but feel we could do better
I don’t agree he is cast off - he is a good (potential to be very good) player who appears to have run down his contract and wants to move on. I imagine we weren’t the only one after him. He also fits the model of how we want to be in identifying young players with potential and developing them probably to sell on. All in all for me his a good strong first signing which bodes well. I am sure we will pay fees for the right player(s) but this is the first piece of the jigsaw.

Sounds very much like both player and club were happy for him to move on. It's quite a lengthy contract but at 23, his best years should be ahead of him. Hopefully with some good coaching and a positive environment he can kick on with us.

Yes we have to trust the decision and believe NC will get him playing. He's only 23 and played over 100 game for them.

I've watched the majority of Charlton games for the last two seasons and unfortunately Morgan isn't a player that is going to improve us and has been part of a poor Charlton team. A similar style to Carey in that he's more attack minded and relatively direct, but despite having more experience I would say he's some way behind Carey. He has some talent but his decision making and end product is quite poor - hopefully Critch can get something out of him but if we are relying on him to be an main stay of our starting 11 we will be way off a return to the Championship.

How many times? You cannot judge any player until you know how they fit into a managers system?

If Jerry Yates doesn’t tell you that or even Josh Bowler (good and bad versions) you’ll never learn!

Wait and see how any ‘cast off’ fits in. Rangers couldn’t wait to get shot of Charlie and we sold him for £9m after he lit up the league for us

From the couple of threads I've briefly seen, he seemed to want away rather than being released.
Either way, he's a player that suits our so called model of signing young players with potential.

Most fans are going to post uncomplimentary comments about a player who seems to have chosen to leave, so I'm not reading much into that when I read what some Charlton fans are saying

Glad we've got our summer signings off to a start, and hope that he works well in Critchs system.

Welcome Albie

I liked what Critch said. For all his shortcomings of his departure, no one can take away he works really well with young talent.

“I’m pleased to welcome Albie to Blackpool, and am looking forward to working with him.

"Albie is now at the stage in his career where he is looking to push on and showcase his ability further, which is something we will look to help him with. At 23, he’s at a good age and he will help us play the football we want to play.

“I look forward to welcoming him into the group as we prepare for the upcoming season.”

"Fingers crossed the useless Morgan and Henry are released - cant see it happening though."

"Much debate about Morgan on social media, some are saying he will end up playing in a higher standard of football, not sure what games they were watching but I think he will end up at somewhere like Colchester, we shall see"

"We must be taking it seriously next season getting rid of Messi ( Morgan)…."

"Can see Morgan playing for Gillingham next season (and I reckon he will be “successful” there)"

"I do think Morgan could kick on at another club. I think he needed to move out of his comfort zone."

"Morgan Will struggle to get a club in league 2 imo , happy to be proven wrong"

"Very happy Morgan and Innis have gone."

Why didn't Charlton want him?
I guess we'll never know. Maybe there was some background tension around, and, as a result, the player just left in a bit of a strop (for whatever reason); or, alternatively, perhaps he attended a training session one day, didn't like what he was seeing, decided to leave there n' then, and announced to his erstwhile team-mates as he left: "See ya lads - albie off..."
