India v England - 5th Test

We'll take that, having just got up I've not see the Pope dismissal yet but to get out stumped dancing down the pitch to a spinner on the stroke of lunch sounds pretty dumb to me.

Bairstow out attacking for 29.

175-4 now.

Kuldeep has all 4 wickets.

Bazball will get us more wins than loses, and is exciting but India are better than us in their home conditions. May well be different in England as we have more world class seamers and our spinners aren’t as good?

Typical England took the Dog out at 155/3 come back and it’s now 175/5.

Usual batsmen failed again.

2 wasted reviews as well.

Nothing ever changes. 🤷‍♂️

  • Haha
Reactions: no9
And another one Stokes for a big fat zero 175/6

3 wickets for zero runs it’s just embarrassing.

Should have taken the dog out for the day. 🙄

Another embarrassing day for England so far, we just seem totally clueless against the Indian spinners yet when they come to bat they're smashing sixes like it's a T20 game.

A big wake up call for Bazball.

Forgot it was on😭

Seriously bad day for England.

On another note saw an interview with Hartley who was saying how much he's looking forward to playing with Lyon and learning from. Also saw from Blenkenstien/ship?? that it's going to be difficult playing both in red ball games......that means if TH want's first class red ball it's going to be a loan away from OT.

Lancs also brought in William Porterfield and Craig White as part of the coaching/management. They could be a much stronger force this coming season.

I think Bairstow is lucky to have made 100 test starts. He's had his moments but not enough for me. Yet another duff review from him too.

He's a great player when the situation allows ie when Eng are on top and playing with total freedom against a poor attack, but I think his ego comes first now, hence the reviews.

He's 34, so probably time to move on. Root is 33, Stokes 32 and it wouldn't be ideal for all 3 to go at the same time. Possibly the reason why Anderson is still there after Broad packed in.

Doing well this morning I see.

India already passed 250 with just the one wicket down.

A century each for Rohit and Gill.

Have we had a more shambolic series in India? 🤷‍♂️

Complete overhaul required in the red ball game.

It's the biggest mauling since the Romans put the Christians and the lions on the same bill. 😩

Bazball is the future. 😞
I still think we'll come back strong in the summer on English wickets and be too strong for West Indies and Sri Lanka, it's just I think we're mentally beaten by Indian conditions and their opponents ability particularly when they're at home.

The best thing they can do now is get that flight back home and go in to therapy for a week or two.

Nailed it apart from the we’ll come back strong in the summer think it’s going to take a lot longer than that for me.

Thing is about this Indian side is we’ve not just been beaten by brilliant bowling bowlers this morning has been a typical example we get Rohit and Gill out after both scoring centuries then the two replacement batsman have already piled on 100+ runs Sarfaraz already on 56 and his partner Padikkal on 44 and let’s not forget we collapsed at this same stage in our innings.

So then it’s tea India on 376/3 already a big lead of 158 so it’s going to well over 250 at the close of play which is probably already enough knowing are batsmen.

Shocking tour has to be one of the worst I’ve seen big questions need to be asked of both the management coaching and the playing staff.

The one and only positive from this match is J A now only needs one wicket for 700 test match wickets.

... all top 5 Indian batters have passed 50 runs, only one of ours got passed 30 ... the word annilation springs to mind..

It would be interesting to see India's batsmen dealing with India's bowlers, lets face it we seem clueless facing the Indian spinners so it would be interesting to see how the Indian top order did against them, we know our lot are miles behind their spinners.

I can sort of understand reviewing for an LBW, but caught? It wasn't as if it was feathered either.

Waste of space

I thought we were a very good side, what’s gone so badly wrong
We are nowhere near as good as we are hyped up to be.

Because we seem to care only about one day competitions these days, our game is now dominated by players who lack the technique or application to thrive in the five day format. Especially when playing away from home on surfaces designed to favour the home team.

It's the bazbollix management speak that does my head in. Talk about brainwashed. I'd be happy to lose David Brent. Just play positively to the conditions and opposition and don't give away your wicket for free. Seems to work well enough for the leading test sides - which we are currently not.

Probably right on everything there🤦‍♂️

For me, it’s time to do away with the toss and let the visiting team have the choice.

…I am not saying it would have changed much this time, but it would generally even it up some with pitches made for the home side.

We are at least a lot better than we were a few years ago
Stop being so bloody positive, this is now time to announce the end of English cricket as a competitive force.

No one is revelling in the misery at all but they might as well knock down Lord's and turn it in to a mosque or whatever Sidney Khan wants.

I blame Wokism.

It's India away ffs.

We could have played non-Bazball stylie and still got tonked, prodding and probing at 1.5 runs per over, still looking completely clueless on how to play spin.

As for the bowling.. at least it looks like we've unearthed a gem in Bashir at the very least who possibly wouldn't have had a sniff under previous regimes.

I think its forgotten how shit we were 2 years ago.

You’d have thought I’d learnt this by now? I’ve been on this site 20 years and I’m still not scarred enough to be furious or entitled enough to expect victory.

Trouble is Bashir and Hartley will be replaced at county level by some medium paced dobbler who can bat a bit.

I think Bashir has done enough to be involved with the test squad over the summer, but you’re probably right about Hartley.

I've woke up to the usual carnage of England capitulating to the magic of the Indian spinners, anyone who has tickets for days 4 and 5 pop them in the bin chaps.

...how many players have there reputation intact t after this debacle, I called it , ininngs defeat on day 3 ..
