India v England - 5th Test

It’s not about losing a test series in India it’s the manner in how we lost it.

Like I said after yesterdays shit show on days 1 and 2 a complete overhaul is required from top to bottom as half these players simply aren’t good enough full stop and neither are the coach/management set up.

And it’s time to ditch Bazball and Stokes as Captain as it simply doesn’t work and he personally is completely out of form both batting bowling and leading the team.

Also time now to put Jimmy Anderson out to grass he’s got his 700th test wicket which is a fantastic achievement but he’s miles away these days from being a test match front line bowler.

Very poor......End of especially losing 5 wickets for 8 runs.

There really is no excuse however, I do believe England tour too much and play too much test cricket.

We should have 5 tests in the summer and 3 in the winter away, the reverse it ie 3 tests in the summer and 5 tests in the winter to accommodate a 5 series Ashes home & away.

Player should play for their counties more and we should be focusing more on two teams a test team and a one day/22/20 team.
With very few if any playing both.

First class county cricket fans will get to see their own stars and test cricket will benefit through the first class game as a "development tool" for finding new test talent.

ECB shoukd "grow a pair" and stop India controlling a game we invented.

.........Rant Over🤣🤣🤣....🚌🧡🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿❤️🌹

...I meant the series, the whole 5 tests .. only crawley, foakes, Anderson, maybe root, of the senior players are in credit ..
Some of the senior players did under perform . That is always likely in India but not to the extent of reputation damaging.

Stopped watching this test after the first innings collapse.
Glad the pain is over and we can move on and pretend it never happened.

It’s like a drunken night in Brannies where you wake up in a strange bedsit with the creature from the black lagoon snoring away next to you.

Sneak off, block it from your mind and get prepared for the next adventure 😉

The only reason my prediction of a 5-0 tupping didn't come true is a freak event called bazball and that can't work every time. There is a crisis of spin bowlers at the moment and the three rookie spinners in India will probably not be selected for their counties especially early season. If Hartley is to be selected it will be for his batting rather than bowling. The powers that be need to do something about this.

Cricket chiefs in England could force a rule on behalf of the test team that each county needs to field at least one front line spinner who bowls x % of overs.

Might be drastic and smack a little of SA quota system but we need our young spinners playing long format games all summer. Not just August.

Disappointing, certainly, but it is easy to go over the top with a series like this. The whole ethos of "Bazball" is that it is going to be great when we win and often look abysmal when we lose, but I think they need to stick with it, we weren't complaining when we were winning continually in such a swashbuckling fashion, we loved it.

It's been and gone, it's a notoriously difficult place to go and if we had played a more defensive way who's to say the result wouldn't have been the same? India on their own pitches with their quality of spin bowlers. We have played some youngsters and that can only be a good thing. We need to look at who will replace Bairstow and Anderson eventually and we should be looking forward to some exciting Test cricket this summer.

That’s unfortunate Chunks me mother in law does get about a bit

I'm not sure what anyone expecting from a country where we literally set our cricket up so that spin plays no part in the long form game and thus we don't have any experienced spinners available (Leach injured, strong suggestions that Dawson said he didn't want to go) and our batsmen therefore rarely face decent spin on spinning pitches.

The fact that the three young spinners haven't disgraced themselves at all is a huge positive. Ahmed and Bashir in particular have huge potential for the future and will have learned a massive amount from this. The fact Crawley is now producing regular scores against the best in the world is also a positive.

We just need a middle order that can respond to a game situation and a seam attack that isn't approaching pension age now.

We'll be a totally different prospect at home.

Yep. Let's get the WI at Chester-Le-Street in May.

The idea of Bazbollux in my mind is that it's an addition to the teams approach, not a replacement for all others. It has it's place, but at times you just need to sit in and hang about until such time that you can attack.

I haven't watched much of it, but I do get the feeling that bowlers are individuals rather than bowling in pairs, something Anderson and Broad did brilliantly.

Losing the series was always on the card. Being humiliated wasn't.

We've been humiliated in India many a time to be fair.

I'm just happy we didn't go down the 'recall John Embury and Gareth Batty' route and at least we've learned something about some players. Not all of it good for sure, but some of it is very promising, despite the result.

Bring back David Steele 👍

Stokes finally admitted that they were outplayed in all but the 1st Test.
The only batsman who scored consistently was Crawley. Bairstow, Stokes and Foakes were particularly poor. The bowlers tried their best with the new spinners making some use of the favourable conditions. Whether they can do it on home turf remains to be seen.
Also, Eng fielding was below par.
Not much to take from the series when you lose 4-1.

The problem is the calendar. It's self fulfilling. We barely play long form cricket in summer - so spinners don't get picked. Why would you pick them in April or Sept?
