It isn't a fascistic form of government even though it is religiously authoritarian. It is a highly religious society, with upwards of 83% of the adult population believing that religious leaders should play a part in Government. Also, about the same percentage believe in Sharia law. However, the number of religious devotees is falling, particularly among the young. It is also a country with a 90% Shia majority, with the bulk of the remaining 10% being Sunni.
