Is anyone else going off Jones as manager?

I was pretty happy when he was shown as a candidate, especially when Heckingbottom was also in the frame, but as time has gone on and I’ve spoken to some Luton fans I know my feelings are wavering, which is a worry.

How are the rest of you feeling?

what did the Luton lot say?
I’m not wavering yet Hert. I know the Evo momentum is gathering and I would have him also but please not Heckingbottom

I think it's a real lottery. On paper Grayson was a decent option. Jones was very successful at Luton but woeful at Stoke.
Do you go unproven and hope for the best (Evo) or gamble on a manager that was good then had one bad experience?

Luton fans can't possibly slag him off for what he achieved on the pitch , his stats there are brilliant.

they thought he inherited a good team and didn’t have to do much. They didn’t like the way he left and think he was found out at Stoke. A lot of the supporters there loved him but it was divided. He had great stats there so that can’t be argued against but they were not sure he would want to come to Blackpool as he sees himself as a championship manager now.

Interesting mate, cheers

The problem is a manager will never get 100% backing of all the fans whoever they may be. SG was appointed with a divided fan base and lost the dressing room and the fans, but l doubt SS will get it wrong again. Whilst the overall clamour is for Evo who’s doing a great job at Barrow, whoever SS appoints it’s vital he gets the backing of the fans from the outset.

You could read it both ways, the fact he sees himself as a championship manager could be a real positive, I just can’t make up my mind, and to be honest my thoughts are completely immaterial, but we all like our say. If he is the new manager I will be 100% supportive

Did you speak to one of their fans who Jones had refused to have a picture taken with?
Because we all know how they can skew someones opinion of a manager 🤣

Ooooh football fans being let down by a manager and end up slagging him off.
Sound familiar?😆
You couldn't get any worse how Holloway left Blackpool tbh.
Jones, like anyone in any profession, was given the chance at a higher level with, most probably, higher pay. Of course you'd take the job.
Having said that, if you get a better job and your staff don't want to know you and don't buy into your ideas then you will surely fail.

As it stands, as I've said on other threads, SS will ultimately decide who Blackpool appoint as their next manager, not some fanatics on a message board.

Let's hope it all works out in the next few days👍

Not quite sure regarding the negatively towards Heckingbottom . His coaching qualifications are second to none . Smacks a bit of Nameism !

The Foxes fans told me that Ollie was an idiot who would take us down with his stupid tactics but our players bought into his ways. Sunderland fans early this season wanted Parkinson out when we played them but are probably content now

Yeah got to admit I'm cooling on him slightly. Wouldnt throw my toys out if he gets it but the more I delve into the guy the more uncomfortable I'm starting to feel.

I wasn't that keen on Jones from the outset tbh. I don't get the feeling he would be a good fit for us. And I get a sense that he thinks he's better than he probably is. I think he'd wind us up and we'd dislike him pretty quickly.

Whoever comes in would need us to be patient. But Evatt would naturally be given more of a chance by the fans I think. He has a good character and attitude too. He was a great pro, and he speaks well.

Herts,he didn't inherit a good team though really did he.
His first season he managed to pull them away from the relegation zone and won 11 out of 21 games to finish the season in 11th
The following season he released 12 players and brought in 8 new players that's not a sign of somebody inheriting a good team.

Rekt (I think it was) mentioned someone who is currently at a Premier League club is in the frame.

Whoever that is could be a huge curveball that no one is expecting.

Ferguson, for example, would probably unite the fans just as much as Evatt would.

Not a clue what type of football he'd play though.

I’m only saying what they said, I haven’t studied it. I could easily have spoken to some other Luton supporters and they would say he was fantastic and the best manager they’ve had for years.

I saw that Ryan Moore at Plymouth was mentioned a few days ago, I think he would be a progressive appointment and would be my number one choice. Is he in the frame do we know?

A work colleague is a mad Stoke fan bless him. After he stopped laughing He said if we get Jones he would pray for us all.

The fact that he's taking a couple of days to decide isn't a negative for me, family, schools and all those logistic concerns need to be thought through...

Surprised no one has been appointed yet.....surely SS was looking before he potted Larry?
I’m sure someone will spot ‘Big Sam’ at Brizzle today and put 2 and 2 together 😂

The ultimate acid test: Sing it!!!!
Nathan Jones Tangerine Army......Bit wimpy and not sure I could wholeheartly sing that
Heckingbottom's Tangerine Army....Errrrr NO🤬
Evo's Tangerine Army...... Slips off the tongue.. I could roll with that!

Sounded deluded after the playoff defeat. Put me off him.

As the mistaken Grayson appointment showed, noone can assume fans' backing.

The onus remains on Sadler to hire a manager with RECENT success.

If he reverses the Larry error through a galvanising second choice, excellent.

The ultimate arbiter will prove whether the new man inspires players and supporters.

Years squandered on hoofball should make way for Holloway-style adventurism..
