Is IFollow too expensive?

It's been absolute gash for me, just buffering, no picture. I tried all suggestions on here, eg cookies, browser, picture quality, etherthingy cable...nada ,nichts. I can only think it's my broadband so I've gone for super fast and I'll
that solves it!

No not really when me and my lad watch the match seeing as we've paid 26 quid ish(ST holders) for seeing the game.

So far, mine has run perfectly, apart from an annoying noise (Chissy)

Good value, I personally think

Football needs revenue, just like every other business. I paid before the ST kicked in, and am happy to pay for away matches.

Nothing in life is free, except the love of your family

Away coms for me as soon as he opens his Gob-shite.........

If non-season-ticket holders pay for home games, then about £8 of it goes to the club. (STHs get it free.)

For away games, the first 500 of £8 payments from away supporters goes to the home club. After that, all the contributions from away supporters goes to their own club. So clubs with a lot of away supporters get more back.

Andy Holt explained all this in a tweet, and it was even linked on here.

I'm happy to put money into BFC in this way.

It’s a tenner and 4 of us watch it.
3 whine like f*** all the way through, mind, but it’s my house so it’s tough shit.
😁

It's worth more than a tenner to me. To see the players and put names to them, to see styles, formations... To see people post about the game they see...
Oddly this is the best 'away' season I've ever seen.
Think I'd feel guilty not buying it (for a league game).
I hope an away iFollow ticket can carry on in thefuture.

.. and if the answer is yes, how much should we be paying for it?
Yes with the standard of camera work, commentary and connection problems. should make it a fiver whilst they sort out the teething problems. Get it right then a tenner is fair enough and could end up a nice earner for clubs when fans are allowed back, with exiles/away fans watching

While I've been 100% happy with it and the service for as long as it's been around... £10 is a little steep considering we could now watch every game of the season. I don't have the best part of £500 a year to spare tbh... but I've paid the price for every match so far.

Season ticket holders HAVE paid to watch the home games. So it's not free. And as to who's fault it is trying to just log on or get to a stream is anyone's guess.
When I have managed to get the stream first half (or what's left of it) is good quality.... Have loads of trouble in the second half's with freezing and buffering.
So my answer would be No it's not worth £10 per game as the service as a whole is not fit for purpose.

Those that go to away games will always go.
Being able to watch the game live is an opportunity that should be available to those that never go or can't go and an potentially away of generating additional income.
Allocation of ifollow receipts probably needs some refining though.

It's on the money. I don't mind paying £10.

Saying that I wouldn't want to pay any more than that with it available on the radio.

I think it's reasonable to pay £10 for an away game...I have a season ticket for home games, anyway.

I'll be gutted when I-follow coverage stops for away games, after this Covid Sh~t does one!

I do think the platform could do with some work as the buffering is problematic.

I think people have to be realistic about what you can expect from the production itself. A lot of streams are watched by a few thousand people. Clubs take the majority of the money.

It's going to be single camera and local radio stream. There's simply no margin for higher production values and clubs in this league don't, by and large, have the media teams/staff to produce anything in house that could be better, nor the commercial incentive to do so.

Put it this way - putting in a second camera and operator vision mixer and operator and commentary team would require less money to go to the club or render the exercise pointless to iFollow as they'd make no money or even lose money on many games.

It’s £10 FFS, you don’t have to pay. Somewhere between 3 -5 pints, good value and escape from Covid

You can't really say that. That £20 per week might be a lot for some people / families. I agree it's not a fortune, I don't mind paying it, but it's harsh throwing scorn on someone that might struggle to keep forking out.

As there's not a lot to do ATM it's a welcome distraction from a year to forget. It's a pity the picture quality isn't better, I've had to wear my distance specs which I don't usually need to & perhaps that's why Chisnall keeps getting Madine mixed up with Kemp etc, maybe he's just watching the stream too. 🙄

Just use a VPN for away games, I must admit I've only done it for the Fleetwood one, but it worked ok.

As an exile this system gives me a chance to see far more of BFC that I would normally be able. I think a tenner is just about right, do wonder however if going forward after Covid if it could in some form still be available. Maybe just for away games, maybe for people who live away like myself🤔be a shame to completely lose this extra possible form of revenue for the clubs

I think there are a lot of fans off here who tell porkies say they pay and then watch for free on their Kodi sticks.
Be interesting to see actual figures from the club sales.

Currently the EFL meet the costs of producing the stream for League games. I think??? they take 20% of the £10 however.
The Beeb are refusing to make any contribution to streaming costs for the FA Cup games that aren't being shown.

I suppose the point is it would cost significantly more than that to actually attend with ticket price alone doubling the cost before any other peripherals like travel and food etc.

Dont begrudge it for a nano second, it,s giving me a chance to watch my beloved, something I do normally home and away.

Ten quid seems fair enough to me, I’ve maybe been fortunate that I’ve had no issues when logging in, maybe something at half time would be an idea, even if a couple guys in a studio giving a round up of scores etc?

The OP was not about that mate.

With all respect to supporters like you that travel the ends of the earth to see games it was is £10 too much?

Most have agreed it's about the right price is reckon.

Yep, fair enough and in these times, a tenner is a fair amount to find if you're made redundant.

Personally I think with the way things are it's time Clubs looked at augmenting their offering by having a pre-match show, their own commentary ( rather than relying on BBC Lancs ) and half time / full time analysis

It could be self-financing with adverts
