Is it too much to ask for a cup run?

I am so sick of Blackpool effectively abstaining from cup competitions. I was 60 this year and I have never experienced anything like a good cup run in my time.

3 games into the season and we play a weakened side against a fourth division team, Why cant we put a good team out, get a couple up then give them a rest. Surely a win would have lifted spirits, and given the crowd a lift.

I'm so sick of it, Every sodding year we do it. Manager after manager has done the same.

I don’t want to be specifically critical of what happened last night, but it is a right pisser that I have seen us play one Cup quarter final in 55 years of watching the Pool.

However, if you had told me in 1990 that by 2021 I would know the route to Wembley like the back of my hand, I might have taken the trade off..
Totally agree about Wembley and the play-offs, but it makes it even more galling that we cant try as hard in cup competitions to create the same excitement. Last year was a good example, we were all but safe in the league by the time the FA Cup came around but once again we were tosh

Last year at Hartlepool was particularly hard to swallow. Especially as we played a strong 11 and bloomin’ Ferguson of the mushroom era scored against us. Disappointing year after year. Last most recent decent cup memory for me is knocking WBA out.

The team was easily strong enough, I wanted a cup run and am disappointed with the players who couldn't finish a move off.

Funny isn't it you have people like Insider wanting more youth and some wanting an already reasonably strong side even stronger.

Can't please everyone. Helps if those put out perform and do the job.

Totally agree with that. Why oh why can’t we have a good cup run? It raises moral all around and brings in extra revenue.

Because some of the squad needed some football and it was an opportunity to put some of them in the shop window. That team was strong enough to beat Barrow.
If Lavery was any good we would have won comfortably, and the board would be full of papering over the cracks post.

Two of the simplest chances a striker could ask for.

Millwall will be back in with a reduced offer after that.

We had a FA Cup 5th Round Replay v QPR in 1990. What more do you want?

2 actually.

In all seriousness I'd love a good cup run. Our cup record in both cups is quite frankly dire.

Teams like Tranmere, Stockport, Lincoln, Chesterfield to name a few have had great runs since we had those games V QPR 30 odd years ago

I didnt go so I cant really comment on the performance but I did see the chances you are talking about and yes he should be taking those. Ill be sad to see him leave by the way but I understand he doesnt fit into this system. Perhaps a loan move might be a better option for us.

Lincoln in the next round might have meant a nice lucrative 3rd round tie .. but then the League Cup is the lowest of my priorities but it could have provided valuable squad playing time which we'll now miss. Hopefully the FA Cup will be kinder.
