Is Marv going to make bigger headlines

It won't overshadow it at all, people realise it's a non story from when someone was 15, the only people who take 15 year old's opinions seriously are other 15 year olds.
He was 17, how old was Ollie Robinson ? Plenty on here were right behind his ban.

What would worry more would be a person that held all the same views and opinions at 26 that they held at 16. That would be a person that I would have concerns about. He's said sorry and told us how he thinks now, that's the end of it.

It's the age we live in, I shudder when I see some people's comments/posts on social media. They are there forever and can come back to bite you in the arse, years down the line. It brings out the worst in some of us who dress-up their, often ill-informed words, as freedom of speech.

Back to topic, Marv posted some views when 17 that he now no longer holds. I'm a little surprised that when this was discussed within the club, all players weren't given a bit of a heads-up. As much as it shouldn't be in 2022, it was always going to be huge worldwide news. Although maybe covering such posts up would be the wrong/easy thing to do, I guess sometimes the best way to grow is to accept and apologise for our mistakes. Hopefully that is the end of the matter.

1 is too many, but i would say at least 8-10 of the usual suspects argued for the Ban
People have to be allowed to learn by their mistakes, teenagers in particular. To punish the man for spouting stupid opinions in their youth seems too much.
The embarrassment of having teenage views displayed to the world should be enough of a lesson in most cases.

Doubt it, it's already been buried by thousands of hateful comments from mainly the middle east (or at least people proporting to be from the middle east). The real story should be how twitter allows such rampant homophobia in real time to an announcement.

Well, actually the real story should be about Jake's bravery but you get what I mean.
When Elon Musk buys them out all restrictions currently in place will be lifted. What a joy that will be...

I don’t judge Marvin at all, we’ve all said things that we bitterly regret or didn’t really mean. It’s rather ironic though, isn’t it, that he was the same age as Jake is now and who has shown such maturity at 17…

Culture wars, both sides do it, probably the only thing Johnsons government is good at.
No, I'm talking about hypocrisy. If you were on here shouting for Robinson to be banned or agreed with it then the same rules apply for Marv. But they wont. Its just rank Hypocrisy and it pisses me off. For the record Marv has apologised and that's the end of it for me.

On the BBC football page this morning. I wonder how this has been made public, has someone trawled through the entire Blackpool squads social media accounts to dig this out?
I know it doesn't make it right but, Jesus wept, I'm glad social media wasn't around when I was a yoof. Marv has apologised for remarks he made 10 years ago, hope that's the end of it.

Again the hypocrisy comes from both sides but I agree with you in principle.
People need to start talking to each other instead of shouting. There is a wide range of views on every subject and we have to accept that we don't all agree on everything.

No need to trawl through any social media accounts. A brief trawl through the Jake Daniels thread on here will have given the hacks their cue.

We all live and learn sure most people on here of a certain age used to do that chant when the opposing keeper took a goal kick.

I did the chant I presume you are referring to though I certainly didn’t have any homophobic context in mind.

As far as I’m concerned it was simply a topical chant of its day.

Carke-Harris got a 4 game ban and £5,000 fine. I think Dion Charles got sent on an educational course.
It'll be a case of the football authorities being seen to have done something. He has explained himself, apologised and ten years have passed. That should be enough!

Many people make mistakes at that age . It matters now what Marvin is and he a good decent man who has done a lot of good for the local community and of whom no longer holds such views.

Big Marv made an error of judgement as a teenager growing up. He accepts that and has apologised, which is akin to being 'rehabilitated'.
No doubt he will have experienced prejudice himself, and as a now mature adult, can apprecaite the hurt this causes.
Time to move on Marv; continue performing as a role model for young people & building a successful career.

If Marv does get a lengthy ban I can assure you I’ll be going through every PNE players account looking for similar historical cock ups and hopefully get a few banned for the derby

He has clearly said he doesn‘t think like that now…..end of story as far as Im concerned
I agree. As teanagers we say lots of things that we now regret and our views change a lot. When I was in my teans I enjoyed watching 'Love Thy Neighbour' on TV and 'Alf Garnet' but times and views change. I don't see what Marvin posted as a 17 year old means he holds those same views, it would be a bit different if he had posted it this time last year.

Investigating decade old tweets by someone who was at the time still a child seems right up the FA’s street.

They should investigate themselves for it having been 2022 by the time a player felt comfortable enough to come out.

Why are there two sides? Do people have just the one view and stay with it whether they actually agree with it or not, just because it's 'their side'?

I'd prefer to weigh up the merits of each topic and give an opinion.

I'm with you on that one, I listen to things, read things and come to my own conclusions but the loudest and most unswerving opinions come from either end of the spectrum.
I think part of the problem from my own experience is that the right wing voices are the loudest and most annoying whereas somebody like Scaramanga thinks centrist and left wing voices are always the problem.
The answer is not to have a completely fixed opinion or 'side'.
