Is that the end of inverted wingers

Now that Critchly has gone if we do play with wingers will they be on there natural side to get more crosses in.

Could be.
The biggest surprise to me last season was he didn’t try after Jan the Liverpool formation of 3 mobile forwards

I thought he’d try Lavery Beesley Yates
2 holding midfielders and Keshi or Bowler behind them

Let’s see if he can get CJ really contributing?

If you look at Appleton's Lincoln side that played us in the final, they played 2 wingers who are both right footed. Brennan Johnson on the right hand side and Morgan Rogers (who we're linked with) on the left who would cut in. Seems to me Appleton isn't set on one tactic, he likes to mix it up a bit so who knows!

The inverted wingers really rely on full backs getting the crosses in. But you need the right players, so traditional wingers might work better perhaps.

What we need most I think is an attacking midfield player. Whether that's Carey or Fiorini or someone else. It was like pulling teeth in that area of the pitch last season, so impotent.

I thought that CJ on the right was a waste of time. He turned like an oil-tanker, which meant that a defender was on him before he could think. I always felt that he should be on the left, and indeed he played quite a few games there, but sadly with little effect.
Has he ever scored a goal in a League match for Pool ? He has pace to burn, but he seems to take an age to even control the ball upon receipt. He ought to be a weapon, but he so rarely is.

Inverted wingers don't bother me one bit and many teams and wingers do it very successfully. Just cos sometimes it didn't work for us doesn't mean its for the bin. Some wingers are equally sh1te no matter which side they are on.

He’s actually scored 7, which ain’t too bad

Ince & Phillips we’re great as inverted wingers… even better when they’d just switch for a bit which left defences flummoxed… The problem is a player spending 7 hours to get it on the ‘good foot’ to cross.

Regardless of which side he plays on his crossing isnt his greatest ability. Even if hes on his stronger left foot he will clip them in rather than wrap his foot round the ball.Thats why I think Critch liked to use him cutting in off the right and getting a shot away on goal.

Hit the nail on the head, changing sides is the key. As you say keeps the opposition guessing for some reason Critchley was totally averse to it. 2 men on Bowler nullified his impact in quite a few games , we made it to easy.
