It’s a shame the season is already over

At least it was according to a few.

Maybe some of you could.. I don’t know… not let your emotions get the better of you? Or see the bigger picture? Or not overreact after a bad result? Or put the phone down for a few hours to collect your thoughts? Just an idea.

We’re still in it. Next two away games are huge, particularly Wigan. We’ve got a side just about good enough to snatch 6th place. Let’s get behind them and the manager.

It's just a result of Critchley playing players in their right position and something fans have been saying all season. It's only taken 36 games but better late than never.

Maybe some could understand the reaction after games. Blackpool are winning away now, why was this not happening earlier in the season?
If they do indeed keep winning they may well snatch 6th spot👍🏻 however, they've put themselves in a position behind the 8 ball where they really HAVE to keep winning, no room for error.
And maybe some would think better of coming on a message board acting smug after a few victories.
Whether some like it or not, I couldn't see Blackpool making a push for the playoffs. Now it's a possibility but we're still relying on others even if we win every remaining games🤷
Unlike some, if Blackpool play shit ill call it, likewise when we win I'll also praise. Said to my eldest, tonights game showed Blackpool at their best, never troubled all night, a good victory.
If some don't like me or my posts the ignore button is there for all to use.

At this stage Wizzer I think we're all in it together...even ATG. Let's keep it going and see what happens.

how funny is it when people call it too early, knowhere near over. I believe in us. Yes we need Stevenage to lose both there 2 in hand but other than that it’s completely all to play for. Great performance and win tonight
Peterborough away tomorrow to start it off for them.

I'm not saying we're going to win the league am I? Just pointing out how ridiculous it was to write us off so soon.
It’s too early to say we are realistically still in it though, given the two games in hand. We are relying on them making a mess of things under pressure.

God you are boring. Always lashing out at fellow supporters for having an opinion different to your own.

There’s a difference between feeling emotion and letting those emotions get the better of you.
Yea. It’s all well and good having opinions and emotions but all the talk about people losing their jobs and not being good enough for our LEAGUE ONE team is just cringy. The expectations of some make them seem like entitled kids. Our one year in the prem was over a decade ago now. Let the gaffer and the lads do their league 1 job and support them. Writing them off before Christmas some were… look at the team we have now that the new signings have hit stride. Goals from absolutely everywhere in the last few games and perfect timing to snatch a top 6 spot.

Also, those who have had it in for critch since the day he came back… no one is going to give you a medal if he fails. It’s not going to feel good if you’re right. No matter how many exclamation marks you put after your would be ‘see I told you so’ comments so just stfu.

At the time Shig, even the diehards, couldn't possibly see where another away win was coming from.
It was also ridiculous that some, possibly down to blind faith, kept saying that there was still a chance, especially in the manner in which we were playing at the time!
It's great to see Oxford internally combusting, how long will that last? We're still relying on others, we can't just rely on ourselves.
Look at the current table, from halfway down to the bottom there are teams in that category, with the exception of Wigan, Reading and Carlisle (who we've only played once this season)
that have taken points off us. And I'm not talking draws, that ironically would have been OK in the long run. I'm talking the irritable defeats, Burton, Port Vale, Cambridge, Cheltenham, even the games against Charlton, letting a two goal lead slip in the last 8 minutes of the game at theirs and the scruffy 1-1 here when we really should have put them to the sword. Those draws were the irritable ones🤬
4 draws against those teams mentioned above would have us on 64 pts and in a far better position, one victory against Charlton would have been even better!! And I know if my aunty had bollocks etc etc!

So, maybe I and others did react to soon but I still feel its an incredibly tall ask to achieve, considering all the factors.
After all it is Blackpool 🤷we could well win the next 8 and miss out, we could win 4 and scrape in!!
But surely, even you, should have hoped we'd have been like this far earlier in the season🤔

Thanks😘👍🏻

It's also boring as fuk listening to our fans who can't wait to wallow in misery and negativity the moment our record isn't 100% perfect. And they have been out in force this season with the same moaning crap since, what, September?
Don't worry the same boring fuckers will be out in force again when we next get beat.

Just some of the bed wetters o/p's after defeat by Leyton Orient-
Get Dobbie in and Critch out ASAP
Get this clown out of the club Sadler NOW
He's done it again.

This site is busier and goes into meltdown when we lose so bloody negative that's why hardly any youth post on here.

Da yoof can contact each other to organise what to chuck at the next player at a home match.
So I realise you've more important things to do than praise a team when they've basically played like dogshit.
#Utmp, we've all got an opinion 👍🏻

Nowt like stereotyping is there.
None of the young lads I knock about would ever throw anything they ain't that immature.

What fans need to realise watching third division football has always been dogshit and always will, apart from maybe Peterborough every other side in this league are just average.

So have an opinion but take a deep breath and compare before the meltdowns.

Nowt like stereotyping, yet you actually stereotype some supporters as boring old fuckers who bedwet👍🏻
I'm also glad to hear that the lads you hang out with wouldn't dream of throwing things, again 👍🏻
Lastly, maybe all the sides in this division are at best average, however, the likes of Pompy, Bolton, Posh, Derby and Barnsley have been more consistent than the others.
Something that we have severely fallen short, especially at the turn of the year and early season.
My last statement may possibly irk you, I will criticise when I see fit, also praise when they've played well, which I've done all season.
Unfortunately we've had a one step forward two steps back season, let's hope the remaining games we can forge forward🤷

It's football, not phucking bar charts.

And four apologies from the PGMOL would have potentially given us another 10 points.

All ifs and buts. As it stands, we're still in with a chance. Let's just go with that and stop harping on about what might, could or should have been done earlier in the season.

I tell you now, if we go on a winning run, end up in the playoffs and go up, it won't be nagging in the back of my mind that we should have done better at Port Vale.

Reading this board regularly, some won't go to Wembley because they expect us to lose and they can't take disappointment.

I find it highly entertaining to read all the different opinions on AVFTT. From the blind optimists to the doom mongers. It's a great read and what sets this forum apart from most club sites which are as dull as dishwater.

What some of the happy clappers want is a perfect board where everyone posts wonderful, happy clappy threads about how great everything is, one after the other. And on here, like the OP, they hurl insults at people who hold an alternative opinion.

Well it will never happen. Suck it up or start a new forum.

I agree with nearly all of that apart from the idea that I hurl insults at people who hold alternative opinions.

Variety of opinion is what makes this board interesting. What makes it painful is people coming on after defeats and blatantly overreacting.

People said the season was over weeks ago. Now we’re 1 point off the playoffs. I’m allowed to point that out. I don’t really see anywhere where I’ve insulted anyone.

I don’t think we’ll go up. That’s my honest opinion. And if we miss out on the play offs then Sadler has a big decision to make regarding Critchley. But until we know for sure, I’m going to support the team and get behind the manager.

Does that really make me a happy clapper?

Fair points there, and I’ve course I’d hoped we would be better than we have been.

Some of those midweek away defeats were depressing and I agree at times it looked bleak.

But I think people should know better than to completely write us off, especially those who’ve been supporting the club for decades.

After Wigan and Derby away we have 3 consecutive home games against beatable opposition. I personally think we’ll draw against Wigan and lose at Derby. Even with that, the season *still* wouldn’t be over.

The same fans who were rushing to this site to declare the season over were, coincidentally, the same people who have been against Critchley from day 1.

I notice our friend from the other side of the border has had little to say on footballing matters recently!

The fact is the side was very badly managed in the first half of the season and we shouldn't be scratching about trying to scrape into the play offs. However, we are where we are and 6th place is Stevenage's to lose and we won't be the only team vying for that spot, Barnsley could implode too. I still think our season was over in December when Critchley ought to have been replaced. That said here's hoping.

It's football and there will always be a lot of piss and wind.
That's the nature of supporting - you even get 50+ year old risking their bad backs smarting for punch ups at games

Daft ,yep but all part if the rich tapestry if the game.

I think with Stevenages 2 games in hand ,we may have left it a bit late but whilst there is a mathematical possibility of the play offs we got to keep going and hope for consistency as not a lot of room for errors

With who Bill ?? There was nobody better available so it would have been a punt on an unknown or Dobbie could have been wheeled our again .
We have better players available in this second half of the season, hence better results.

My main issue with Critchley was ghe boring footy being served up .

Nobody available, are you kidding me? Yes Dobbie for one and host of upcoming managers and very experienced ones as well.

We've still got an outside chance. Stevenage would need to have a bad run and Lincoln, on form, would be set to finish above us

They ranged from Pete Wild at one end and Phil Brown at the other plus another few dozen. It's absurd to say no-one was available, many were.
Phil Brown.😂
FFS I'd rather have McCarthy back.
As to Wild don't be daft he's under contract until 2025 we'd have to pay 2 years compensation.

Your just picking names from thin air with not a clue with the very obvious anti Critchley stance.

Two examoples off the top of my showing the range available. If you can be arsed looking back at old threads (I can't) there were all sorts of suggestions some good some not so. My point stands, there were plenty of options available.
