It feels worse than last season

It feels much much worse than last season. Last year I always had confidence we would turn it round and go on a charge.

This year, I still have confidence it will turn but the emotions feel more raw. It just feels like the world is conspiring against us. Shit refs, injuries decimating our key players and not a break caught once. It’s starting to wind me up….

If you had to have your house on a bet of Staying up or going down what would you have?

I think we all knew it was going to be tough, there is a big jump in quality. That aside we've had terrible luck with injuries, not had the best recruitment in key areas and appear to be getting the rough end of the stick when it comes to decisions. Now isn't the time to feel sorry for ourselves, there was so much in that performance that is to be admired. The international break comes at the right time, we need new blood in and as fans we need to support the players even more. We will get better, we will have more luck and we definitely can't get worse officials. Have a beer and try to remember the many positives.

Really didn’t expect it to have been this tough at the start

I was thinking the same about the international break, we have had a nightmare start thanks to the EFL. Granted it’s Fulham up next but I wouldn’t be surprised if we beat them and turned it around.

We were better than Millwall, we didn’t deserve to lose. Lots of positives - we’ll be alright. Keep the faith.

Today has particularly stung I must agree, but looking at Millwall its convinced me we're gonna stay up. A combination of us getting better with each game and Millwall are a marker of the quality we'll have to best to beat the drop.
Millwall hadn't won until today though, and had we been able to play a natural right back we would have kept 11 on the pitch & the game was there for winning.
Onwards and upwards

Jerry will click soon chunky keep the faith

sadly its not great at the moment, we need some player and time to adjust. As a team we look small. I've had a drink and a little pissed off. but will always love Blackpool. its not like we lost 4-1 to Brentford on a Tuesday night in the old ground 1980's you know your shit when you applaud the away teams goals.

Doesn’t help when you start a season playing at a higher level with a half baked defence.
Would appear they’ve learned nothing from last season. Sort the defence out first, then the confidence and results will follow.

It’s only August. If we are still at this point nov/dec then it’s a worry.

I get where the o/p is coming from. Even during last season's poor start, we at least had a win under our belt against Swindon, so there was positivity that the team would gell and we would do well.

This season we're obviously at a higher level with several serious injuries, and without a RB. The lads have played well under the circumstances, albeit after showing the opposition too much respect in the opening 30 minutes of games. Oh and we've hardly had the rub of the green with officials!!!!

Personally I will feel a lot better if (when) we strengthen before the transfer window closes on Tuesday night. Playing players in their recognised positions helps. Really hope we can get some quality signings in, and quickly.

I'll have a bet with you. If we stay up, you can buy me a pint. If we go down, I'll accept it.

We are like Wycombe last season at the moment, plucky losers and the odd draw. They got better and better and so will we and I think we're at a better starting point with a more ambitious owner.

I really like some of the football we are trying to play - Bowler was great for much of the game; Marv was immense; King Kenny did more than people might realise; Shayne and Jerry could power a small town with the running they did; I thought Keogh was alright and that James had a reasonable game at RB considering and Keshi showed some class at times. The problem for me was that we were a bit light in the bench to replace some of the guys who had run themselves into the ground. With 11 men we would have won - and they are a big physical team. We are capable of playing some really good football; you saw some of it today, alongside a real spirit to fight. We will stay up. We need a few more players- but we will stay up.

Perhaps we need a rallying call, a call from Critch to our boys ahead of the next match. How's about:

This day is called the feast of Crispian:
He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when the day is named,
And rouse him at the name of Crispian.
He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say ‘To-morrow is Saint Crispian:’
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars.
And say ‘These wounds I had on Crispin’s day.’
Old men forget: yet all shall be forgot,
But he’ll remember with advantages
What feats he did that day: then shall our names.
Familiar in his mouth as household words
Harry the king, Bedford and Exeter,
Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester,
Be in their flowing cups freshly remember’d.
This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne’er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember’d;
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne’er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin’s day.

Yes/no, maybe?

I feel the opposite to be honest, I think this feels better than last season to me. I had a feeling we'd turn it around last season but can't say I was 100% confident because we really didn't know how Critchley would do, what he was like, and we had a lot of new players who were finding their feet and let's be honest were quite shaky initially (like Ekpiteta).

However, now we have a core group of players who we know are capable, we have a manager who we know has the ability to improve players, and we haven't lost that fighting spirit that got us promoted in the first place. Yes it was gutting to lose yesterday but that was a real dogged performance against the odds. We are so close to that first win and it will come, and when it does we'll be fine. Think back to last season, we had the Ipswich at home debacle, the Gillingham away non-performance and one or two others. We aren't seeing those kind of performances in my opinion during this start. I'd say our performances have ranged from competitive to good, without being great, and with a little bit of naivety thrown in due to being in a higher division. At no point so far have we been really bad with the possible exception of the first 30 minutes against Coventry.....and even then we missed a couple of great chances.

We need that first win asap, but i've seen nothing so far to suggest that we can't live in this league.

I absolutely love that speech. The bard at his best

I take some comfort from what the Coventry fans said about the similarity between there's and our return to the Championship.
They made the transition and are still there, so will we.
I don't underestimate the importance however of the next couple of days and who we recruit.

Last season felt worse for me cause I was thinking we'd be in division 2 for at least another 2-3 years. Felt like a project to just get out of that division was just starting. It's exciting, the teams we're playing, the level we're competing at. Yesterday was a tough, tough defeat but nothing like being below Fleetwood and Accy in the table.
