We we suddenly be a free scoring attacking team....

It's not his way, solid defensively and grind out wins

That's his way and its always been his way and to be honest i reckon it might actually be enough to get out of this poxy league

If you want fast free flowing attacking football then this season may not be for you

Unfortunately we are stuck with him

So either embrace it or don't go

He'll be gone before Christmas Phil, he isn't going to grind out the wins.

So his plan is only half working, we’re solid defensively but not grinding out wins.☹️

Ballard may have improved over the last few years.

I've pointed this out before, Marv played far better with Gretarsson beside him than the few games he played alongside Ballard and was the first choice, above Ballard, for the RCB position when Ballard was here.
 
To be fair I think each 0-0 was an improvement on the last.

We had a few shots on target this match! And some others that were near!

Sustained a bit of pressure at times also!
 
It’s almost like he wants to get fired. Obviously not, but then again, he’s not had a payoff for a few months.

This squad isn’t as good as first time around in Div 1, but it’s easily good enough to be sitting near the top all season. It’s easily good enough to be taking games to the opposition. The problem is that Critchley is wedded to a system that simply does not suit our players. Replacing players in the same system is evidence of that.

He’s tactically inept and whilst not changing the formation, he clearly instructed Marv to pump it long all second half. Bypassing the midfield that we keep investing in. I’ve never seen this formation played and it hoofed long so often. It’s a formation that should allow us to play through & dominate midfield, using the wingbacks as attacking threat.

It’s no different to how he used Gaz, whilst killing Jerry in the process.

It will change, because it has to, because even he is not that thick to keep playing this way. This league requires positive intent, not cautious negative play that sucks the life & confidence from our players. There cannot be many in the near 10k home fans that think this formation works.

Fans need to judge him on what is happening now, plus the last 6 months of his last stint. Forget that he got us promoted, he had a seriously talented bunch and it took him a long time then for the penny to drop. He’s failed badly since leaving us, yet in a thorough selection process, SS kept coming back to him?

Come on Critch, time for the penny to drop. Stop trying to be some tactical magician, you’re not.

Totally agree with all that.
 
To Critch's credit, he changed things when they weren't working in his first stint and we were a great side by the end of a season. He'll know we need to score more goals and will make some changes. I think we need to remember there's no guarantee of success with any manager, Wellens had a great season last season and he has one point on the board so far but he's not suddenly a terrible manager. We've not played well in a few games and it's been boring but results wise it's a solid start and there are positives to take if you're that way inclined.

That's only cos we didn't go and you could make a brew or whatever.

There was some shockingly dul games in league 1 last time.

I remember his last spell we were very hard to score against but very shy going forward it’s dire I’d rather we play on the front foot
