Bit dull, Lincoln set out for a smash and grab (probably watched how teams beat us over Xmas), they were hard to break down but ultimately offered nothing to the game and deserved what they got.
Won't send fans home thinking we've turned a corner but at least it feels better than it did on Tuesday and gives us two weeks to hopefully start to make additions and get a few injured and sick bodies back.

Tentative first half; lucky to be one up through an excellent delivery from Dembele.

Much improved second half, particularly the latter part. I thought both Dale and Morgan put in strong shifts and CJ deserved his bit of good fortune for chasing down the keeper.

Casey deserved his MotM for a solid display plus the goal.

Moving forward NC needs to address his tactics away from home if we are to improve and reach the play-offs.

Pretty Much as I saw it too. Thought Morgan had his best game yet for us. Comfortable win in the end although first half we did look very shaky at the back. Rhodes was sensational second half as well.

More by accident than design we moved to a back 4, Lyons, Casey, Marve and Hubby towards the end and pushed CJ where he should be, alongside Rhodes with no defensive responsibilities. It looked much more solid with every player in their natural position although to be truthful Lincoln were abysmal. It would make sense to try it again at Forest with no league points at stake. 5-3-2 is not working with these players especially away from home.

Agreed. I thought Dale and Morgan very good today. However, Joseph still not convincing.

Agree with most of the above. 1st half was poor and our defensive shape still looked off. Connelly just can't start for me. Lucky to be 1up.
However 2nd half i thought we battled well, weren't pushovers and dominated the game. They weren't great at all.
Dale, Casey and Morgan all good performances. Rhodes also had a great 2nd half, worked his socks off.
Need improvement from Joseph though, both his hold up play and channel running needs to be better.

First half was very poor. More disjointed than anything which is understandable. They didn’t offer much tbf and we deserved the win.

I think Morgan and Dale are really coming along. Both played pretty well. Rhodes was class again.

Thought Connelly was poor today and we are still very weak in midfield. I’m still not convinced we’re good enough to go up at the minute but plenty to play for. Just need to sort away form out.

Connolly obviously playing with some kind of sickness bug, he threw his guts up before coming off

He has had the bug going around and wasn't 100% according to Dad but he still plays ahead of Marv 😣

If true that sums up critchs loyalty for an average player.... poor regardless but will never change as in selection.. he will always be on team sheet whilst if had bug surely egg potato should have started

Well done we got result but was poor to watch and unless things change mid table is nailed on sadly

A performance full of grit and determination against a stubborn Lincoln side who were much better defensively and on the ball than many teams weve played at home. They were flying into tackles with feet up all first half. One on Dembele could easily have been red, while we were getting booked for straightforward challenges where we got some of the ball. Our team spirit was exemplary throughout. We won our battles and stepped up a gear second half after really getting into them for the first fifteen minutes. We then imposed our quality and didn't take our foot off the gas. A deserved win, and we need more of that determination for the rest of the season.

I think a more in form team would have beaten us today. Only Fleetwood are in worse form than Lincoln. In our defence, we did what we had to do but like I say, plenty of teams other than Lincoln, might have had more joy.

Form is irrelevant. It's how a team performs on the day.
Not really. You could tell Lincoln were struggling. Better teams would have scored in that opening 30 minutes or so. We were shocking and giving Lincoln far too much space.

That's taking nothing away from us. Confidence is low, fans ready to throw knives so it was just a case of getting through that opening 30 minutes and hope luck was on our side which it was. They missed a good chance and we scored with a very simple header which you normally wouldn't get such a chance.

Too much long ball for my liking we just don’t play enough football for me. Every player should be instructed to look up see if Dembele is in space and drill the ball to his feet. Too many aimless long balls played. We have the best technician in league 1 but we rarely play to his strengths.

Lincoln weren't struggling. They fought for every ball and gave us no space or time. Like most teams who have lost a few they upped there game, determined not to lose. We had to match their physicality and determination. Yes, they could have scored early on but we weathered that and broke them down, imposing our game second half. In fact Lincoln's performance was a lot like many of ours away from home.

And other teams would have probably set up differently thereby allowing us more opportunities.
Then again you wouldn’t take that into consideration because you always look on the negative where Blackpool are concerned.
And how ironic that you say you are taking nothing away from us when your opening paragraph states better teams would have scored n the opening 30 minutes; on what grounds can you say that? Especially as we have the best home record in League 1.

Doesn't matter if we have the best home record. That has nothing to do analysing today's performance.

We just looked so poor in the first 30 minutes and I think a lot of teams in this division would have capitalised. We were pushed right back, giving so much space and not stopping crosses into the box. Dale was like a left back.

Way too much long ball, it's been the same for 3 seasons, but making us even more predictable by repeatedly playing the ball to Dembele isn't going to help! We need players to keep moving and showing for the ball and the players that have vision and can pass the ball to be given the ball in positions that allows them to make the right passes. Failing that, we need a well drilled team to make predicted runs to stock balls because we've been undone by a few technically poor teams playing that way this season!

Can't believe the stick he is getting, he was obviously under the weather but did not want to go off.
Technically not great, but we could do with a few more with his attitude
Definitely 👍🏼 The way he put his head in the way against Bristol Rovers a couple of weeks ago was also very impressive

Agreed. They had one decent chance in the first half put over the bar, but second half we looked much sharper and they didn't threaten at all.

Not the best performance by any means, especially in the first half when we looked very laboured, but at times we've played some good stuff and not won.

Positive to grind out a result without ever looking fluent. When other teams do it, we say its promotion form.

That was the sort of performance we need away from home - resilient but not afraid to have a go (Dale, Rhodes and Dembele from memory all had shots outside the box).

Dare i say it but Grimshaw needs to work on his kicking - the number of clearances that went straight to an opposition player have been unreal recently. Other than that great keeper, his saves have been essential but i do feel we are bring pressure on ourselves and needs addressing.

Great. Goes nicely along with our 1 other away with this season.
But your point was, unless I'm misunderstanding, is that form is a fixed feature and therefore predicting a result is easy. It isn't. If it was we'd all be millionaires. As many teams have shown this season, not just us, get the tactics and attitude right and any game is winnable. The real mystery is, how are we so successful at home, but not away.

My point was that we are shit away from home, and it is therefore fairly easy to predict that we will be shit away from home. And your last sentence literally says the same thing. Can you say that you expected us to smash Portsmouth 4-0 at their place? No. Noone did. Because we're shit away from home.

First you say it's easy to predict a shit away performance, now its 'fairly easy'.
we're nearly there 👍

Not sure what your point is. If all you now have is to make a discrepancy between easy and fairly easy I'm sure it must have been a really good one 👌 🥱

You maintain predicting an away defeat is easy. I go into every game, home and away, expecting us to win. I guess that's just my sunny disposition and optimistic outlook on life. With the squad we have there is a realistic chance of beating anyone in this league, that's just the way I look at things.

The squad we have on paper yes. But games aren't won on paper.
