It's been an interesting day on here today

It has. I think it's been a lot of measured thought. There's always the 'player X or Y is shit' or 'manager is a moron' reactions everywhere at any club but underneath what is evident is there's been a degree of soul searching about what we realistically want the club to be. It's not the first time we've thought about that either, so it's natural that it should be that way.

Bottom line is.

You can be successful and boring.
You can be (relatively) unsuccessful and exciting.

You can't be unsuccessful and boring. That's not sustainable. That's basically been us for the majority of the last two years.

If we can't immediately turn round the form, let's at least give some decent football a go and play with a bit of style and joy and make that a core goal of everything we do.

We have to do that without our current manager then

With last nights podcast and Phil's tome, has prompted lots of really sensible discussion for a change. I hope SS is reading this because it's probably had the most good information on how the supporters feel about the club than at any time since he took over.
I wasn't aware of Phil's thread until your post here. Ta. Interesting stuff.

To be fair, it was fine when we were any good. I wasn't bored when we were winning at Boro or playing Bournemouth off the park to come back from the dead or beating Stoke or Fulham or all of that stuff.

I don't have a preference for sexy football over effective football but right now, if we're not going to throw the sink at winning the league, then it seems the next best thing to try and create a bit of style and buzz in the way we play and make good on the youth first vision as that is in itself a way to grow club, income, desirability and can be self fulfilling.

I just want to enjoy it and I want to see players enjoying it.

I genuinely don't know what's happened to Critch. He seems half arsed in comparison to what he was like.

Could you provide a link to Phils tome pls. I dont read every post or every thread ( I am one of the current toadstools ) but would be interested to read that.

Yeah been some decent stuff

Even BST aren't happy with the club and its new proposed charter
I thought it was supposed to be inclusive. Having read the proposals it sounds like typical work related bullshit “you are free to ask any questions as long as there’re the ones we want you to ask” & by the people who we choose. So I’m with you on that it’s bollocks.

I'm no doom and gloom merchant and never expected us to go up this year. I also don't slag the manager off because he is a good coach.

However, it is bizarre how we have set up this season. One formation, nothing else. It hasn't changed. Opposition scouts must be thinking 'maybe they will this week?' but nope, 3-5-2 every ** game. Plan effectively against that and we struggle, hence where we are. All a bit weird really, last time he was here we changed formation a fair bit. Critchley will get sacked by Sadler if it doesn't miraculously click in the last 14 games. The signs are it won't.

Up the Pool.

Was a big fan of Critchley but he’s a good 18 months at most then since then gone backwards.

He’s very stubborn or the definition of insanity. A very easy choice for Sadler who I think is happy with measured progress on the pitch along with improving players. Surely results does that? At the end of the day it’s not good enough currently and I’ll think he’ll get rid soon if it carry’s on .

Except its sometimes 3 4 3. The 3 is the constant.

I think NC is a very well qualified coach, but not necessarily a good one. If he was, when the need arises he'd know when to set-up differently, play our players in their strongest positions & make much timelier & better use of our impact subs.
He's certainly not got the skills of an old fashioned manager, managing in the new game.
Time for him to move on in my humble opinion.

Watched it yesterday and it was well worth it. Andy made some great points and with passion but Raggy stole the show with a couple of passionate and bang on detailed opinions. Serious stuff and I’m sure Critchley and SS will have watched it. I wonder what SS will make of it? The seeds are germinating.

We've been playing 3-4-3 for weeks.

I'd never met Raggy before the Pod so my picture of him was that he was a bit of a lout but well meaning. He really isn't, he's a lovely bloke (in a non sexual way) Passionate about the club and the town and someone I would enjoy socialising with if I was living up there.
