Its the lack of full backs!

I watched the match whilst on holiday in Turkey. I thought that we did okay considering that we had non of our first choice or back up full backs available. That completely throws your formations and balance .
We had young Apter doing his best on one side and Connelly on the other. This meant that CJ was playing far to deep to provide cover on one side, spoiling his normal game and Bowler having to track back far to deep losing the ball by the corner flag for the first goal. They are not defenders they are attackers doing their best to help out. What can you expect.
We started out last season without one full back and suffered badly until we got one in and settled. Currently we dont have either!
Its just bad luck with injuries. We cannot just go out and buy quality replacements because we dont have that kind of money and hopefully they will be back in a few weeks time. We are making do and it shows.
I feel for the likes of Apter, CJ and Bowler because they are doing their best playing in positions that don't suit them.
Hopefully the Irish lad will come in and settle quickly until both are fit .
Forever optomistic UTMP!!

Some fair points Nigel. I was critical of CJ on here yesterday, saying that his natural speed is not helped by his attempts to burst through from a standing start. Your point about him being required to start from deep in order to help Apter explains that one. It must be hard for CJ as it doesn't allow him to show off his proper abilities.
