Ivan Toney

If Toney (and it’s just an if) has bet on outcomes of games or events within games then his offence is totally different from that of Trippier and far more serious.

Trippier’s offence related to where he would be transferred to. If bookies offer odds on that sort of market they are doing it because they will get the inside info. And in this case then sulk when someone has them over.

I think this answers a few questions about his non selection, clearly on current form he should have been picked, but Southgate must have been told to swerve selecting him by his masters at he FA.
That’s what I’m thinking. A real shame, because I like him. Always carries a threat. Not particularly taken with Callum Wilson.

Peter Swan, Bronco Lane and Tony Kay of the massive Sheffield Wednesday were banned for life for betting on a single game back in the early 1960s. Swan and Kay were England internationals too. Things are less draconian now.

If that is the legal precedent, then he should also be banned for life. Especially if he has bet on so many games and IF it includes games he has been involved in (I believe a hand ball when at Peterboro may be one).

Makes you wonder if footballers get enough life education. Baffling to think this would be ok. If I was an owner, I'd be making sure all youth players actually understand the repercussions of things like gambling and social media. Completely dodgeable bullets.
