...and the loss still hurts, more so because we were battered by probably the worst team to visit Bloomfield road this season.

The main difference between them and us apart from the fact that they were all medical giants was, where we took an average of 7-8 passes to cross into they're half, they were doing it in 2 passes and lumping up to the big no.11.

We faffed about and invariably looked for the back pass. I get, the need to keep possession but come on...the frustration of seeing an attack peter out and end with the ball at Maxwells feet became so annoying. You know you're shot shy when the crowd is screaming "SHOOT!"

That said, I still believe we'll get back to winning ways and I still have faith in Critch, I just wish we'd be less faffy and more attacky haha

Onward to Derby!!

If Derby score we're sunk.

Thought Luton had been foolishly underrated by many on here; they're not as bad a side as some suggested.
Also felt we were better in the first half than against Cardiff, Stoke, Cov and Huddersfield.
Having said that we were well beaten without scoring at home yet again and have not played well since the QPR game, in my opinion.

All medical giants? They only had 3 in their starting lineup over 6 ft.

Now I’ve slept on it I’m putting it down to the weather, the keeper gifting them two goals, a bit of bad luck and wrong team selection.
All things we can fix for Derby.
But Derby themselves are a better team imo

More attacky. I'm liking that. Much better than more higher pressy

I've lost count of how many times a player has had the ball and could have let it roll into open space to maintain attack but instead held it up to give the defenders time to cover, bloody frustrating.

Actually on that point - at the start of the season I thought we would surprise teams’ with our pace, especially on the wings, and with Yates & Lavery getting on the end of crosses. Just hasn’t materialised. We invariably either hold it up, play a poor ball or run into traffic.

We’ve got these assets and aren’t using them properly.

Totally disagree about being battered we could have easily gone in at half time being in the lead, second half was pretty even I’m in the minority reading the posts on here but I’m sure things will pick up soon

Yes plastic bag definitely not battered.. sure lost 3 nil…but not a 3 nil game. If chances were taken as the Hatters did then it could easily of been a win. Small margins in most games..Mitchell’s goal bound attempt clipped the heel of a defender and diverts it on the post…few decent saves from their 2nd choice keeper all before the Luton goal which bounces over the line after hitting the bar. Was a frustrating game but I’m not convinced there’s too much to worry about.

A lot here as I saw it too.

We weren't that bad I thought. I've certainly seen us play worse this season. Of course Luton deserved to win, they took their chances we didn't.

Their first, a lots been said about our choice of marker. Having watched the goal back today, not sure what Dale was doing prior, but Husband pulls him backwards to the scorer just as it's taken and he ended up stood right underneath him. Even if he did have a chance, he didn't as the bloke just leaned over him, Owen never even got the chance to turn round. The second was awful, I thought at the time we'd just been done on the back post again but sadly Maxi should have dealt with it. But did he really have much to do in the game overall?

Their keeper made two good saves first half and an ok one second from Reece. We had some great moments first half, Keshi's run was Bullockesque, Ryan Wintle's turn that opened up the field to him.

Second half we had loads of the ball as Luton settled in to keep what they had. Josh Bowler looked a lot more threatening than recent, got several good runs going. And not all the balls he got in were bad ones, but Luton were defending well.

We got several shots off second half that were blocked by the sort of defending we've saluted ours do recently. Sometimes it just feels like things are just a fraction away from being in the right place. We've certainly had our fair share of goalmouth scrambles in recent games and yesterday was no exception. Other times those fall straight to you and you get a sitter.

One major plus for me was the 15 mins that Sonny Carey got. Got a free role and turned up anywhere there was some space, always wanting it. Then off and running or looking to thread a pass. Exactly the sort of attacking mid play we're crying out for.

It means a big switch from what we're currently doing, but Yates/Lavery can be a front pair with Carey pulling strings behind them to run onto and interchange. But Sonny needs a run in the team, not 15 mins here and there.

Exactly - more verve and attacking spirit please - let's play to our strengths.

I agree with a lot of these opinions, Critchley talked about 3 sections of the pitch and how we performed in each.
Dale needs to be used more he does'nt waste much, has good distribution and link-up play. Came close to a goal again.
He will get better IMO.

Well the biggest blunder was bringing back Maxwell

He was totally off the pace, didn’t give any one confidence all pm and caused the first goal and came for a corner he never even waved an arm at

That set the tone, a first half we dominated ended by us needlessly giving away a stupid free kick , Maxwell flaps it around the post and then misses the corner - to go in one down was not quite game over but 3-0 was a fair
Account of one team taking its chances and the other being a bit shot shy, having plenty of useless crosses and one having a t target man (No 11) and us not really having one

We need a powerful ball winner up front - against big sides you need either tonnes of pace and width or match them with aerial heavy weights

Can anyone remember one decent cross we put in all pm ?
I left concerned

Get Grimshaw back in and Keogh for sweet revenge

I have to agree with the Carey comments.
I think he will be one of our stars for the future. He doesn't panic when in possession. He is very direct and forward thinking. He has a good eye for a pass and a good shot on him. Get him in the team.

recent weeks that has been a problem in that we often hold the ball too long, its like everyone is waiting to make the killer pass rather than get the ball to a player in space and push forward. Someone put a stat that we completed just 1 of 19 attempted crosses, which kind of shows we are not making the most of attacking possesion.

i think the 3-0 flattered Luton, but if you squander possesion, and dont take the ample chances that come your way then we are going to have problems. think NC will sort it out.
