I don't know why they don't just do that. It would be better than paying all his wages if he just saw out the rest of his contractI reckon that Pool will be paying more than half of his wages, wherever he goes.
There's a few clubs interested, but he won't lower his wage demands according to a Carlisle fan. He wants paying what he gets paid from us which is never going to happen in league 2.Most likely advertising his stock on social media to try and gather some interest in his services. It’s seems either nobody wants him or nobody can afford him
We offered him the contract, we have to honour that. Not his fault we offered him a good contract when he isn't good enough. He's every right to sit tight and expect us to honour his contract. I guess a compromise is close. If he's on £1500 per week and Bolton can only afford £1000, we offer him £20K to cancel his contract. Hopefully something can be sorted soon, as it does no one any good to have a player not involved about our club.
With the transfer window closing in just eight days, it raises the prospect of Devitt sitting out the remainder of his contract despite not getting any first-team action.
Critchley is hopeful that isn’t the case, suggesting Devitt needs to head out and get gametime having suffered a frustrating period with injuries.
“Dev has been involved with us since minute one of pre-season, he’s had some games for us and has featured in behind-closed-doors games in the last few weeks,” Pool’s head coach told The Gazette.
“He’s been brilliant to work with. He’s a really good professional, he understands the situation and he wants to go and play games, he wants to go and play football and he wants to get his career going again.
When asked if fans can expect a busy last week of the window, Critchley said: “It depends on what you class as busy, I think we’ve been busy so far!
“Obviously we’re only allowed 22 players over the age of 21 and we’re pretty much around that figure now.
“There will have to be room in and out if we’re going to keep to that figure, so I’m not ruling it out both ways.
“Busy, maybe, maybe not, but it depends on what your definition is.”
That would seem to be the best solution all round. Hopefully it works out for the lad and he can get playing time somewhere if he can't feature in our plans for now.Yes I completely agree with the above, better getting some contribution to his salary by sending him out on loan than paying 100% of it for him to do nothing.
He will be playing the waiting game knowing that we will eventually accept a loan deal with the other team making a contribution to his wages. That way he will get the games he needs and not have to take a pay cut. Can't blame him reallyChoosing to sit out a year, at his age, when his contract is up at the end of the season would be career suicide.
He'd be better taking a hit now by going somewhere where he will get game time and hopefully the opportunity to impress, and earning himself another contract.
Disappearing in our reserves for a year, especially when so many other players are looking for clubs, would likely be the end of him in the professional game.
Presume he has a young family? Doesn't want to move? I would have thought he actually has delusions of being better than he is or everyone who has come in for him is too far away? No connection with the lad as we've never actually seen him play. He’s entitled to sit tight, but at 31, if he doesn’t play this season, he may never get another job. He will have lost match fitness, and it’s hard to start again at 32. He ought to be factoring that in.
