January 2024 Transfer thread.

Our chances of making the Premiership are zero. In the 13/14 years since we achieved the impossible, much has changed. The Championship is now our best bet and to do that and stay in there will take some doing. There are some really big boys who operate in the Championship.
Load of negative rubbish. Yes the Premiership isn't imminent given we are in L1, but it will definitely be a longer-term goal of the Club. Yes there are some big teams in the Championship, but equally there are smaller teams in the Premier League e.g. Bournemouth, Burnley, Luton. It can be done - we've proved that already, but equally it can be done again. If it wasn't for our lack of consistency this season, we'd be well set for a return to the Championship already. We have the players - they just need to be used in the right way at the right times. I don't think Critchley has done that well at all yet this season.

Look at the teams contesting the Championship this season. All are well supported clubs and other than Ipswich, came down from the Premiership las season. The moment Bournemouth lose their benefactor they will be back down. You cannot survive in the Premiership on small gates.

Not true. A lot of clubs don’t understand the opportunities of now. There are so many revenue streams open to a club that understands what technology enables.

Rubbish! That is why all the big clubs have moved to bigger stadiums or are increasing their stadium sizes. In addition the bigger clubs, who have more paying customer through the gates, also earn more from TV revenue.

Free agent list for central midfielders is dire... Josh Onomah or Matty Longstaff anyone...?

Didn't think so...

It'll have to be a loan then.

Doubt we'd go for an academy player this late on in the year. Brighton recalled Weir as soon as it was apparent he was surplus and players like Dan Gore are going to go to clubs who guarantee playing time.

Perhaps an out of favor Championship midfielder on loan then?

Ebou Adams from Cardiff? Andy King from Bristol City? Jay Matete from Sunderland? Dominic Ball from Ipswich?

Most of those are unlikely as I'm sure their clubs will want them at a minimum starting every game.

So the question is who would be willing to loan us a player that is almost assuredly going to be a squad depth piece?

Permanent deals are definitely off the table as whoever we're dealing with will charge a premium.

Carlisle are 10 points adrift and almost assuredly down, but doubt they'd let go of Moxon for less than 500k, which isn't a bad deal IMO, but wouldn't be good value when he'll be a free in 6 months.

Interested to see what rabbits the club pull out of their hat.
Agent AT, at it again 🎯

Most reliable ITK on here.

I would much prefer SS to sign players on a contract rather than on loan.
A couple of loan players is understandable financially, especially where they're from PL clubs.
Too many loans results in continual & significant rebuilding at the end of their loan periods & that takes time & causes frustrations when the results go against us.
Use the KD income to buy a better replacement.

Nope don’t confuse your opinion with being a fact.

Nope don’t confuse your opinion with being a fact. If you can fill the seats why not go bigger but there are plenty of revenue streams available.

This will be another you get wrong.

How about you just stop posting your fake ITK bollocks on here as it's getting more and more embarassing for you.
You’ve been told before but it’s funny watching you get upset.
It’s actually off now -fact - others know this but I’m happy for you to keep targeting me. Hilarious

I lived in Germany for 9 years and watched a decent amount of top level football whilst there. my Local sides Armenia Bielefeld and FC Paderborn 07 (Both spent time in Bundesliga) only charged about £150 a year for a season ticket (Standing) and that also included travel on public transport 3 hrs before and after the match.

They kept the price low as they said gate receipts only made up about 7-10% of their income. As such they wanted full stadiums and fans spending money in the stadium, so this just shows that gate receipts at top level clubs is not a deciding factor in staying in the top league.

Bayern Munich's gate receipts only make up 3% of their turnover hence their low prices. they want real fans not rich people there for a day out to get behind the team as that is more important than an extra 0.5% in gate receipts.

So, it was another that you got wrong and isn't happening.

I'll keep targeting you whilst you keep claiming you're ITK when you clearly aren't.

A monkey with a set of darts and random player names pinned to your arse would have a better hit rate than you.

critch said last night on bbc lancs they were still looking to be active following the departure of dougall from the magic roundabout at Bllomfield rd. maybe i will be getting a beatle birthday player for my 64 on the 30.

Ahh facts how refreshing. If you know you know.

Maybe its just me but so far I feel this has been yet another underwhelming window...on the bright side many of our fans with no ambition will be happy that we are living up to the little old Blackpool tag...we really needed an upgrade on Dougall and a ball playing Centre half (preferably a leftie) Is this yet another window where it just fizzles out and we are weaker than when we went into it?

Keeping Rhodes was good news but he was already here so cannot be counted as an upgrade...similarly Apter cannot really be counted as going out because he was already out on loan. We have at the moment lost Weir and Dougall without replacing them. I will concede that Coulson could be a big upgrade on Thompson but I really hope we show some ambition and get a couple of players in next week who can challenge for the first 11.

No doubt I will be accused of being unrealistic and ungrateful for what we have but I just want what is best to get the club enough momentum to get out of this league. We should be a mid table Championship with our resources and we are certainly underperforming.

I agree with everything you've said. Unless we get in at least a MF to replace Dougall then we will leave this window weaker than we went into it.

"We should be mid table Championship with our resources..."

What a load of bollocks.

A bit of speculation from The Imps about Matty V.
Its on the 1st page. I didnt read the next 17 pages.

Moxon seems to have lost a bit of form this season by all accounts. The Gazette has mentioned JJ McKiernan of Morecambe as a possibility. Soon out of contract, 6ft tall, scored 7, combative (booked a few times).

Do not want to improve Prem teams youth players, and very few quality players, are around for transfer in Jan
Keeping Dembele and Rhodes was good,
Apter had a contract extension.
lad from Middlesborough has slotted straight into the side, and we may try to make it permanent and Rhodes probably will be offered a deal in summer

Think we may need another Cb apart from that reasonably happy with a squad that has the best home record and nearly toppled Forest

Incoming, a player on loan will be signing within the next 72 hours, you heard it here first.

EFL based. Not a bad signing IMO. All to be revealed soon.
