January 2024 Transfer thread.

About time we started signing some big strong lads, who can presumably play too.
It appears we've signed Mick Rathbone (remember him?)
He was a big strong lad when he made his League debut at Bloomfield for Birmingham when he was 17.
He appears to be currently earning a crust at Bloomfield Rd as part of our Physio team helping to make big strong lads out of our Academy squad.
These things are generally a secret but I'll divulge it.

Maybe its just me but so far I feel this has been yet another underwhelming window...on the bright side many of our fans with no ambition will be happy that we are living up to the little old Blackpool tag...we really needed an upgrade on Dougall and a ball playing Centre half (preferably a leftie) Is this yet another window where it just fizzles out and we are weaker than when we went into it?

Keeping Rhodes was good news but he was already here so cannot be counted as an upgrade...similarly Apter cannot really be counted as going out because he was already out on loan. We have at the moment lost Weir and Dougall without replacing them. I will concede that Coulson could be a big upgrade on Thompson but I really hope we show some ambition and get a couple of players in next week who can challenge for the first 11.

No doubt I will be accused of being unrealistic and ungrateful for what we have but I just want what is best to get the club enough momentum to get out of this league. We should be a mid table Championship with our resources and we are certainly underperforming.
A mid table Championship club with our resources ??? - no fella we really shouldn’t

So, it was another that you got wrong and isn't happening.

I'll keep targeting you whilst you keep claiming you're ITK when you clearly aren't.

A monkey with a set of darts and random player names pinned to your arse would have a better hit rate than you.
I didn’t get it wrong - the guy failed his medical. Sorry I didn’t see that coming.
Again very big words for a small fella. I’m hitting the ignore button now so your snide replies will be a waste of your little hands love .
Now jog on

On average We were a league 1 club under the worst owners in football and we have in theory had a massive ownership upgrade so yeah I believe we should a championship club..if you read my link above he thought in terms of league position we should be 30th ie 10 th in the championship but no doubt as ever you know best …some of our fans are delighted to be in the backwaters of league 1 ..I am not and have much more ambition than that..we should be strengthening the team more each season and clearly we haven’t been…maybe we have no liquid cash or maybe it’s all going to go on the mystical/mythical training ground

Doesn't play for Portsmouth by any chance?

Nope don’t confuse your opinion with being a fact. If you can fill the seats why not go bigger but there are plenty of revenue streams available.
All clubs have other revenue streams, but the factor that puts you higher up the football pyramid are the number of people attending your home games! That is fact and not opinion.

You are a fraud, you have been all along, you know absolutelyfuck all about the ins and outs, you trawl through social media looking for bits that look like they are going to happen and jump on it and pretend to be in the know. I am embarrassed for you, why do you do it?

It’s quite entertaining on here reading those who know this and those who don’t know that. Everyone has an opinion but we all have the same goal and want the best for our club carry on regardless.

Nope. Most clubs have no clue as to the revenue streams available to them. You can’t make a bigger catchment area but you can both follow the German/US templates and add virtual experiences. Don’t make excuses for clubs that can’t innovate.

Critchley just said that were looking to bring 1 or 2 more in by next week. Hopefully that comes off, but we've heard that before and then nothing happened.

So if Mansfield follow your plan they will become bigger than Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal etc? I think not. Return to Cloud Cuckoo Land!

I think we will be lucky not to lose some other players, Lyons, Dale, and Virtue maybe. But my main concern is Gabriel he should have been on from the start yesterday which suggests he may be in line for a move. The model of the club is to sell and reinvest the funds. All the players that | have mentioned, we need to sell if we are to get any transfer fees from them to reinvest as many can leave at the end of the season for free..

There seems to be a pretty obvious attempt to nurse players back in to the team after long layoffs. They get a game then a rest, back on the bench for a while etc. Joseph, Gabriel, Pennington are examples IMO, at least I'm hopeful that's the case with Gabriel. I do think if he stays fit though, we need to get back to the champ PDQ cos he's far too good for league 1.

Any fees for Virtue or Dale would be absolutely minimal and not worth sacrificing squad depth for. I don’t believe anyone else will leave - 2 in though

I like Gabriel and agree that he should be in the team. I'm not sure, given his injuries and lack of playing time, that we'd be able to recoup the £700k we reportedly paid for him at the moment.

Yes ..if Sadler has Ambition for us .. Yates on loan as our Too Scorer is injured and Player investment by signing Moxon are must happens
Lol…. Yates won’t be coming back here… Rhodes will be fine for next week and there are no such thing as must happens as far as transfers are concerned. Pompous nonsense

this one again ... hmmm

Not too sure about this one as it says him not playing this weekend is due to the move yet his manager is saying he's ill. I'd love for this to come off, but I just dont see him stepping down a level when he's been getting regular playing time with Wednesday.

I'd absolutely love to get Byers. He's a great player at this level. His only issue has been injuries, he has been prone to them over the years. However that's never put us off before.

A bit like saying Kenny D not playing was due to ‘personal problems’ 🤔

FFS!!! We have looked after him for months after falling over a ** stool at home and he comes back and our clueless manager doesn't play him because he has CJ as wing back. it's ** ridiculous. If he goes that will be Critchley's fault, and we'll lose Lyon's too, but as long as we have Connolly and CJ everything's fantastic! It's very hard to like Critchley.

Edit to add, you have to question Sadler's investment on the squad too if we end up losing a few of our best players this week or in June. Lose the likes of Gabriel, Dougall and Lyons and it weakens our squad massively, you can't help but feel Sadler is happy with a League one club.
