Jerry Bloody Yates

Funny you should raise this, me and the group I went with were saying that at this rate we’ll be fending offers off. Not that long ago we said we didn’t have a striker…..

His work rate off the ball is unquestionable. A very selfless player who puts the team first before himself, sometimes to his detriment. Give him the service and he will score. Matched last season tally already (I think - has 8 goals) and we are only in October. Lucky to have him. He is a very good, very clever player. Relies on confidence as do all strikers. We would not be the same without him

There's no shortage of people on here ear continuously quoting he's not good enough for the championship. I'd be keen to hear what they think now. Even when he wasn't scoring his workrate was phenomenal and even more so now. His tail is up. But I also think madine play the key role giving them hell up front. I'm just looking at how much energy he was putting in after 80 minutes I was really surprised I thought he was injured the other day and might be knackered by the second half

As good as Critch was, his mistreatment of Yates was absolutely criminal. Thank Christ he stayed with us cos no one would have blamed him for leaving for regular football.

As long as he's well under contract and his replacement is in the building first and scoring that should be the plan (buy low, do up, sell high, make progess).

But you never know with our lot. Several false starts so far including not being able to maximise their chances with the immediate asset in Bowler.

So probably just enjoy the moment. He's gone from looking like he was about to cry when they gave him a sympathy pen v Birmingham because of whatever was happening with Critchley and in general, to this current purple patch. I'd say that's a victory for his personal hard work over the summer. And now trying for a more attack-minded approach where he knows he's getting a game if he puts a shift in. Not randomly dropped.
