Jerry replacement

Then it's L1 the season after next. You have to spend to get the right guy in. No choice.
I’m sure we will spend that’s not the issue just we will not be spending at the £4m mark - I imagine we will get two replacements in up front with the Jerry money

So now the inevitable seems like its about to happen any day now who could we realistically get to replace him? Surely we want someone of a similar mould to jerry when we first bought him. Young, energetic, bit of pace and knows where the goal is.

Any serious suggestions? Let say we have around £4mil budget from jerry sale/transfer budget?

The only one I can think of is Aaron Collins from Bristol Rovers, he is young and scored goals for Newport and did well for Bristol Rovers last season, also can play LW as well where he played a few games for Bristol Rovers last season.
£4 million 🤣🤣🤣

Seems Sadler's spunked the budget on useless managerial appointments and loose lipped director pals. At least the surcharge on plastic season ticket cards and a decent return on sales before flogging Jerry should help to pay for a Championship youth team loanee!

Just to clarify when I said we had £4mil to spend I didn’t necessarily mean all on one player but you would like to think with sales last season, the critch compensation, now the yates sale as well as the reece james sale and all the wages freed up there should be a few mil in the transfer kitty surely!! Hopefully with the money we now have we see a striker, a couple of wingers and then maybe another attacking mid or a LB? But we certainly need a few more bodies in the forward areas

We dont need more bodies, we need more quality

I'm not angry about Yates leaving, he deserves to stay in the Championship. I'll be pretty cheesed off if the fee is only £2.5M but even more so if he isn't replaced and replaced soon. I dont want a loan, I don't want some untried 18yr old. This is a massive test for Sadler, if he wants to take positivity into the season we cannot be relying on Beesley and Lavery.
Exactly and when you think about what's needed and set the cost of that against the fee received I wonder how much is left over.

Exactly why we need someone in charge of scouting to be on the ball, neither of those players were worth anything like that, same with Wright although we got some back and Thommo, although I think he will come good.
Which is why, when you need a striker to hit the ground running you are going to need to spend a bit more than your Dales and Kirks. A pecking order thing. Champ club robs L1 club of start. L1 club needs to either rob another L1 or 2 club or buy quality surplus from above (possibly the more expensive option).

There's only one way to get back to the championship....and thats paying for a striker who knows where the onion bag is...without that kind of investment ...we wont be going anywhere with what we have left.

The business model is buy low sell high we wont spend anywhere near what we get for Jerry, nor should we.
That is the business model and it's one that I support. However, it has to be blended with the occasional piece of substantial spending in order to bring in a man of known quality. Young players with potential develop better when mentored by an experienced and classy player.

Sam Smith that played for Cambridge is a free agent. 25, and got 14 goals/assists last year for a terrible Cambridge team that only just managed to stay up. He's also a northern lad so could fancy moving back closer to home.
There are players out there, just need to get the right fit for us.
