Johny Johnston

Remember playing against a Johny Johnston in Sunday football in the early 80`s (I think he played for Express Cleaners) - a small wiry fella who played on the wing. Someone at the time told me he was an ex pro.

Sadly no footage...

He played for Belle Vue/Mamma's I'm sure Raging will confirm. Also played for Blackpool Mechanics mainly in the reserves. Great character

Yes indeed JJ played for my Belle Vue side in the early eighties after he retired from pro football, position wise I always played him a a striker, he knew where the goals were and scored a bagful for us including a hat trick at Stanley Park Oval to beat Express Cleaners in the final. After finishing an excellent pro career which included playing for Bradford City and I'm pretty sure he played for when they knocked us out of the FA Cup in January 1973, he worked for Crown Paints as a rep and lived off Watson Rd South Shore. I'll upload of team photo from back then.
