Jordan Henderson 700k a week.

I'm a big Henderson fan and spent a lot of time on here defending him but im disappointed in this. Not so much the moral issue because there's a lot of hypocrisy about it even from Liverpool fans. I don't see anything like the reaction to Firmino doing it and the Saudi angle is infiltrating every aspect of modern sport yet it seems Henderson more than any other really is being held responsible for it.
What im disappointed with is him throwing away his career. Surely at the very minimum this should have happened after another season trying to win things back with Liverpool and a go at the euros with England. I don't understand that because he'll never get it back. It goes against everything he's been about on the pitch and as a captain.
To be fair I don't think Firmino is an LGBTQ champion like Henderson is. There lies the moral issue and why he's getting pelters and rightly so

Yes I understand and your right but only to a certain extent IMO. It still feels like he's been punished a bit for doing so much good in the past though. Maybe he shouldn't have bothered ? Maybe he'll continue to speak out while he's over there but I won't hold my breath. I still think he's being held as a bit of a scapegoat .

Hypocrite and good riddance to an average player who divided opinion.

The ' if the money there he's got to look after his family' brigade are having a laugh. he was on £200K A WEEK at Liverpool for basically pointing his fingers and passing the ball backwards 10 yards. I did that for far, far less, except the backwards bit, as a goalkeeper it wasn't very clever.

The sooner the world converts away from oil-based products the better. We turn a blind eye to their medieval human rights issues because of their obscene wealth and how they use it. Manchester City and Newcastle United fans are probably very happy as things stand but the whole football world has been distorted and it looks like it's going to get worse.

For me the worst thing about Saudi and other oil rich countries is how they splash out obscene sums of money but seem to do nothing to alleviate poverty and suffering in Africa , on the same continent. They could do a lot but choose not to it seems.

Saudi is in Asia but totally get your sentiment.👍

One thing that puzzles me about all these footballers going out to Saudi is how are they going to adapt to lifestyle changes, despite getting huge wads of cash.

I’d be interested to know from anyone on AVFTT who might have worked/lived out there what it’s like.

Lots of Footballers like a bevvy and a night out - I don’t think Saudi is renowned for Clubs and bars!

I believe BAE etc had compounds in the workplace where you could have a drink, a bit like Dubai where you can drink in hotels but not anywhere else.

Loads of players went to China on huge cash and came home fairly sharpish. Can imagine a similar scenario occurring here.

100% agree unless he speaks out whilst he’s there and try and change the agenda. Take the money but stand by your principles.
You can't speak out in these countries look what happened to Rock band 1975 in Malaysia a whole festival got cancelled for two men having a kiss on stage.
That's why JH is a hypocrite.
