Jordan Rhodes

Gary Taylor Fletcher was a great natural finisher. If he’d had pace he’d have played more than one season in the premier league
If he'd scored more goals he might have played more Inthe premier League! 36 in 215 appearances for us.

Huddersfield blogger makes the obvious point that Rhodes scoring in L1 doesn't mean he should go back to the Championship, they know all about him and he's had his chances there.

Interesting comments about Jerry Yates. Sounds like Huddersfield are unlikely to recall Jordan Rhodes in early January, but might possibly need to towards the end of the window if they can’t strike a deal elsewhere.

If Huddersfield have any sense they should threaten to recall him if he continues in the same vein whilst having no intention to do so thus forcing us to pay a nominal fee for Rhodes services with maybe an 18 month contract for the player. Pretty similar to some of our behaviour with our loan players lately for example Thorniley when he was at Oxford

Seems to be a perfect fit. Rhodes at the age of 33 after a few difficult seasons will be loving life with us.

I’d imagine he would be reluctant to return to Huddersfield and you would think they would need to set their sights higher.

It makes sense for us to strive to get him signed up on an 18 month contract. Even if we go back up to the Championship, Rhodes will still be a big asset.

Hudders don't want him.

You send a young lad out on loan to get experience and games under his belt before welcoming him back

You send a seasoned pro out on loan to get em off the wage bill before getting rid.
I probably wouldn't put it quite as bluntly as that, but I tend to agree with this. Huddersfield will be more than well aware of Rhodes capabilities and it's not going to come as any surprise that he'll be able to bag plenty of goals in League 1.

He won't go back. At his age if he was wanted the move back it would already be public. And as others have said, I don't think he's good enough for the Championship. He's thriving from shocking defending and the fact he was a genuine talent years ago. I imagine he will want to stay here with us becoming a new local legend. Why wouldn't he? He's already made a mint from the game. who would want to go back bench warming and wondering if he can still hack it in Yorkshire?

Whoever was responsible for bringing him to us has done a great job. The fit is perfect. Thankyou.

Jordan can now score goals for fun in the latter years of his career and be adored again.

Spot on

Caveat: unless Huddersfield need him.

It could be a situation similar to Robson and Thorniley, we didn't want either, but recalled them anyway due to injuries to other players.

Fantastic. Walsh and Hatton probably the best striking partnership in my time as a supporter.
Both so strong, and both great in the air and on the ground, and both
also two footed.
Great memories, but sadly also just before the rot set in.
Memories not great for me because we got relegated in their last season. Both moved on

As natural finishers go he's in the same bracket as Bob Hatton and Kevin Phillips, with Eoman O'Keefe and Tony Ellis not far behind. Having said that he missed an absolute sitter laid on by Lavery but he made up for it later and could have had another just before.

Is Jordan Rhodes one of the most natural finishers we've had at this club?

Kevin Phillips? DJ Campbell? I can't think of many more in my lifetime I'd rate higher.

Zero chance he'll be with us after January so the club really need to start looking around for what we do in that scenario.
He won't be scoring like he does for us in the championship, he hasn't done for 3 or 4 years, I think we might keep him.

Sadler needs to be saving his pennies so in January he can offer a nice little price for Rhodes and offer him a 1.5 plus 1 contract,

Folk keep banging on about the possibility of Jordan being recalled to Huddersfield in January. Isn’t it also possible (with the almost goal a game he’s been scoring) that he could even be recalled to the Scotland team? Just saying. 🤫

Udders fans moaning about him being on £9k/week on the bench.
Radio t'rovers gave a 30min Rhodes interview on Tuesday night before the Cheltenham match, should give us some insight in to his thoughts.

Brilliant football brain – one of the best and most under-valued players in the last 50 years IMO. Great player! Brett Ormerod’s another I’d add to BFC greats that never got the recognition they deserved. Brett was the best finisher since the days of Eamonnn O Keefe, Bob Hatton and Mickey Walsh!
