Josephs goal

Josephs goal today reminded me of the one Torres scored from exactly the same place for Liverpool in our Prem year, Perhaps his angle was more acute looking back, but could not believe the finish when it hit the back of the net. He looks quality and looking forward to seeing him play this season.
The turn and finish were both so assured. The ball was only going in one place.

He dosent lack confidence or skill which I am now glad to see on the pitch. This is good timing as by the time the transfer window opens in January he needs to be playing full matches as I think we will lose Rhodes

I think effectively getting a seven-figure sum plus Kyle Joseph in exchange for Yates will prove to be a very smart bit of business by the club.
And I was a big fan of Yates too.
Today, in a limited time, Joseph was making some really clever runs, and the finish for the goal was superb. Extremely promising.

I agree, but we are chasing the pack now. We need to worry less about the opposition and play to our strengths. Dembele simply has to play and preferably as 10 behind a front 2.
Did I say he doesn't? Critch wants him on the pitch too. You can't go gung ho every game, and we won't.

Not saying you didn't and of course we need to respect Portsmouth as the best team in L1. We did that at Bolton though and came back with no points and not a single effort on goal. Barring Barnsley our away form has been shockingly poor and will be the reason we won't make the play offs if it continues. Maybe the answer is 2 anchoring midfield as a trade off (Norburn in for Carey) and more defensive wingbacks?

I think Norburn will partner Dougall. I also think he'll start CJ again but not sure about LWB. He'll probably keep faith with yesterday's team but bring Norburn back if fit.

Bolton away and Pompey away are the two toughest L1 games at the minute. We didn't get Bolton far wrong. The reaction to the defeat from some fans was well over the top.

Oh I agree, we were one mistake away from a good point. But the lack of any meaningful attempt on goal frustrated me, given the terrific backing. The thing is, I would play Dale, he'll be well up for playing against Pompey you would think.

It was a completely different angle but I also instinctively thought of Torres’s goal in terms of his technique and where the ball ended up in the net 🍊

Youre probably right but was the same end and same side of goal but equally so I wasnt expecting either of them to break the net like they did.

Much easier to be braver at home to a side really struggling away from home though
For us being at home or away should not make a difference .

When we are away we take a good following and are louder than the home fans anyway .

Agree that we should adapt style of play in accordance with the team we are facing .

However I don’t get the difference as to style of play based on whether we are home or away in itself.

We should go for it as much as possible . I accept though that Critch is 20 years in coaching and I don’t have a clue .

I think you assess each game on its merits? Away games on average are tougher than home games. But it also depends who you are playing, form, players missing etc. I think it's reasonable to say we should generally be more aggressive. But understand that you need to take the specific strengths and weaknesses of the opposition into account, and where the game is being played.

The thing I like is how he comes off the defender to receive the pass. The finish is great too but it was the intelligent movement before that which made it possible.
