Just not good enough

Let's bounce back from the woeful WBA game shall we, yeah...

Sorry that first half was utter shite, there's just too many performances like that this season.

How many time does Marv pass it straight to the opposition, yet gets man of the match, ok he did a great sliding save to stop the scoring but he shouldn't be getting MOM.

How many times can't we clear a ball, powder puff clearances or straight back to them.

How many times do we put the ball out for needless corners, we can't clear our lines.

2 games and 2 times now we've folded from a simple ball in and lost both games.

It was so lacklustre 1st half I barely heard a chant, because they could barely string a few passes together at times.

We look great when we're at it but those performances seem few and far between, most of the games we play we have absolutely shocking spells.

Madine barely won anything, Yates wasn't at it, it was just really poor. Once again Maxwells inability to come for crosses is shown, also suspect kicking, barely clears the halfway line.

2nd half started just as bad, we kick off, bare in mind they kicked off and we're under pressure straight away, after we kicked it half heartedly forward we'd lost it and it ended up a corner to them, under pressure again from the off, pathetic.

Hooray Keshis back, 10 minutes in oh he's off again injured, WTF.

We did muster some better spells and how we didn't score is criminal, had that first flurry where we had about 5 shots and all could have easily gone in and some should, bad finishing.

Obviously after that we gave away another corner and just like WBA we don't deal with it and typical Blackpool, suddenly we're behind and once again up against it.

Madine missed another open net, easier to score, went over the bar. Later on Corbeanu did well a few times and created more scrambles and how we don't put the ball into the net I don’t know, hit the post, ffs we've got to score.

But that freekick, we just knew it was going to be hit over and what did he do, blasted it aimlessly over, thats not good enough in the championship. But I thought he did well bar that caused them issues and we should have scored from them.

Overall though despite being better in a few spells 2nd half it wasn't good enough, we're just too easy to beat at home, we've a terrible home record, conceding soft goals and wasting some really easy chances, too many poor spells in games where we're really poor in possession and defensively.

If we carry on like this with one or 2 good performances followed by a load of crap ones we'll be right in the thick of this relegation battle.

You say some things that are fair but the feel of a very recent defeat overhangs it. Sleep on it and reflect.

Nah I am reflecting now it won't change what happened, I'll still be pissed off then, we've got to do better than that, yes we're missing players but we always seem to be so we just have to deal with it.

I was saying if we keep giving them corners, most of them needless, they'll score and typically after our best spell where it looked like it was so hard to score they float a cross in and a bit of a scramble just like WBA and another goal.

It’s not good enough.

We've only won back to back games once, lucky to beat Huddersfield, ok weve had some stinker decisions too but....

Your home games are meant to be a place to pick up points and we often look devoid of anything, it killed the atmosphere dead today. We looked an awful outfit for large parts of it. OK we picked up but its just happening far too often.

Agree about Maxwell, he's absolutely rooted to the goal line
He's so weak at crosses and kicking.

There was one time he punched it and clealry should have caught it, but mostly he stands there and it doesn't inspire confidence.

TBF he made a good save 1st half that ended up being offside, but he didn't know that.

But he doesn't fill me with confidence, neither did Grimmy at that side of the game.

I'm determined to send you to bed in confident mood. Get the first half of the season done, then the world Cup break and we'll have everyone available. Then, we'll have Fiorini, Bridcutt and Patino in midfield.Gerry, Gaz and Shayne will be dancing up top and our defence will be....err, our defence. Buck up JJ.

Our play, set up and mentality looked negative. Similar to WBA. It feels like MA accepts defeat before the ball has been kicked and sets up to avoid it, and not go for the win.

What happened to “the only way I know how to play” attacking football? Under Ollie we attacked everyone, regardless who we were against, in the promotion season and look what happened…

We’ve seen it in glimpses this season and we do look dangerous when doing so, but when we sit back and try play for a point we look woeful, as we did against WBA and today!

I'm not bothered about then right now, I'm describing the season so far and today.

We need to actually bounce back against boro. The spells in the 2nd half is how we should have started, thats how you play when looking to bounce back. It took far too long and by then we had given the game away.

Am I pissed of yes, but don't worry I'll be fine 🙂

Injuries and sickness are killing us aren’t they?

Some fair points though JJ. How we create so many good chances and rarely take them is criminal?

On a positive note - I thought Kennys corners today were excellent and Luton looks a very resolute team defensively. Another team would have surely conceded goals to us.

That free kick though Theo…..

Whatever the reasons for it are, the attacking football isn't there consistently, 1st half particularly, it was so flat and boring.

Glimpses just aren’t enough, recruitment left holes, injuries are ridiculous, but also the players and manager are responsible too. It's a results business and we just aren't getting many results.

The players should be good enough to pass the ball better than they are for large periods, so too to clear ball out the box, or to tap a ball into the open net.

I actually think the mangers decent but we have been up against it with lack of players and lack of his signings. But you do have to work with what you have and get the best from it.

This league is tight as hell. Anyone could end up in a relegation battle from playoff places below, but it's only after Christmas it will start to separate I think. Anyone can beat anyone in this league. We shown enough to show we can do it it just needs a bit more consistency. Doesn't take a lot to bring out the gloom in some people though

Yeah it doesn't help at all, but I can't blame sickness or injuries for us not clearing 2 simple crosses in 2 games now.

Or for not scoring from one of those chances today.

I think today was the first time including last season that I started to worry about the drop.

We need the break so badly and get our better players fit as quick as possible or it could get scary.

I feel we’ve got a decent squad of 18 if fit. We saw today though that when injury / sickness hits, the squad outside of that starts to look threadbare

Is there a case for calling up Stuart Moore?

Some harsh comments imo.... Luton were no better than us in fact thought we should have won. 2 passages of play where we had chance after chance.
Very few games this season where we have we not completed.

It's been the pattern of the season so far, a couple of dire games and then just when it looks like the panic button is about to be pressed within the supporters we pull out a few results. If we can keep that up we will stay up but it definitely leaves you in a state where you're not sure what to think or where we stand.

Is there a case for calling up Stuart Moore?
Probably not but whoknows, although he did well in his cameo and does well in some reserve games, but there must be a reason he isn't picked.

Although his size and coming for crosses is much better than the others I think.

That was literally the only 18 we could put out today, and some of those were clearly not well enough or fit enough to play. Just sit back and think about that. Ward wouldn't even be on a short term contract never mind starting a game. Patino was playing whilst still ill, Madine is absolutely fucked, Keshi broke down after 15 minutes, yet we could and probably should have won the game. You can't blame the players or the manager, it is just terrible luck the injuries and then getting a virus in the squad.

It makes me wonder what we will be able to put out on Tuesday, if more are ill and new injuries. I know Angel doesn't like it but we just didn't get 3 or 4 players we desperately needed in the Summer, if everyone is fit we can put out a decent team but we lack so much in strength of depth. We have not bought a defensive midfielder of quality who can break p play and set us away, not just this summer but last January and the summer before, how can that happen? Same with a right back, we Have Gabriel and Connolly filling in. We need a right back!! And the total bollocks Bullshit came up with in the lamest interview of all time was embarrassing.

They have to pull their fingers out and support the manager in January, a most difficult transfer window to do that in.

But that's a poor do also recruitment wise and having so many injuries, unlucky yes but signing crocks also.

Also some of the errors we've had ages to work on, passing the ball, going missing for large periods, the players out there should be able to defend a cross, pass the ball etc.

You have to be able to keep clean sheets and grind out results. It's not made easy by our issues but still.

Ward did ok considering, not the reason why we lost or didn't score.

We seem to have some on here who will criticise the manager but not the board, the board but not the manager, the players and manager but not the board.

For me, I'll give a bit all round, poor recruitment in some key areas, poor play from players at times who should know better, poor from the manager at times as too many lacklustre displays lacking basic energy and desire, yes he's up against it but so is every manager who they have issues and its a results business. We've still had enough to do better then we've done.

But I still think we can do far better even with what weve got, a few players back helps, need 2 big performances next.

That's just hedging your bets!! 🤣 🤣 😉

We have two winnable games before the world cup break, win those two and it's an entirely different outlook

Agree about Maxwell, he's absolutely rooted to the goal line
Or he is flapping around on his line.
He just makes it too easy for the opposition to score far too often.
I call him Subbuteo now he is bolted to his line the much and he needs a longer stick that reaches out of the six-yard box.

Its not, it's true, we have the different blame camps on here but in reality everyone needs to do better. Recruitment, players, manager, Tony Parr*, kit man, tea lady etc.

* Tony needs to do better as he announced Keshi leaving before he'd even come on, foreshadowing his early exit maybe.

Indeed, I said 2 wins out the 3 would be great, we've lost 1 now, if we were to win 2 I'd pick these next 2.

Much improvement needed, we can't wait until into the 2nd half until we have a good spell and start playing.

EAsy to pick out all the points mentioned in defeat, you think any of the other teams in the division are different ?

I've picked out positives and negatives out of most performances.

Different how? I haven't seen many other championship sides defend as badly as we can at times, kamikaze passing from Marv, scuffed clearances from all, gifting corners, players like statues at times etc. We can defend at times and do it well but some of it is below the standard required far too often this season.
