Another reason to try and stay up somehow.Wouldn't go from the Prem to League One, if we find ourselves there.
Indeed. Better players and managers because we are a league higher and have more money to spend. If we do go down then you either have to go for tried and at times failed or completely untested.Another reason to try and stay up somehow.
In that case we've already got Starmer as ManagerI'd prefer Robinson to Jones, but it's like a choice between Johnson and Truss.
By all accounts the Board (heaven help us), have already identified who they wantHe'll be definitely applying for the Blackpool job in the summer instead of turning it down in the past
Yeah Appleton coming back for a third stint ..... aaaaagh !By all accounts the Board (heaven help us), have already identified who they want
Even Mansford isn't stupid enoughYeah Appleton coming back for a third stint ..... aaaaagh !
Was apparently Sadlers choiceEven Mansford isn't stupid enough
I’d be amazed if they didn’t go after Nathan Jones - like or loathe him he is more than proven at this level and if you want results, good football and a strong team both to win promotion and maintain championship status it’s a no brainier to appoint him ( if he wants it) . You have to also remember his Luton team walked Lg1 and improved Year on year in the Champ.By all accounts the Board (heaven help us), have already identified who they want
Is the man currently in work?By all accounts the Board (heaven help us), have already identified who they want
Sorry I’m not ITK, it was on a thread a week or so ago ( maybe Scrafters?)Is the man currently in work?
He needs pushing out in a boat!Is he worth pushing the boat out for?
He'd sink the fuckerHe needs pushing out in a boat!
Fact or fiction?By all accounts the Board (heaven help us), have already identified who they want
maybe has something to do with the baggage that comes with him.Sadler or dipstick Ben didn't even entertain Evo, what a ** joke. But hey, what do we know?
My mate is an Oxford fan and he’s keen for Appleton to return to them!anyhow one ex Oxford manager is enough for now
You told us McCarthy was a good appointmentwould be a good appointment
I have always admired Simpson. When he was co-commentating on radio Lancs you could tell he knew his football. Would be a great manager no doubt in my mind. .Paul Simpson for me, he's turned a side from relegation fodder to promotion candidates in 12 months or so.
Not sure about Wellens everytime Super Charlie Adam visits he'll try to break his leg! Speaking of whom why not Charlie?Appleton to resurface at Oxford then?
As for us, Paul Simpson doing an amazing job turning Carlisle around!
Ritchie Wellens a good shout as well.
It would help if he didn't pick teams by drawing names and positions out of the sorting hat.You told us McCarthy was a good appointment
He's been awful and even worse than Appleton with some of the worst football I've ever seen at Bloomfield Road
Yeh I'd like Simmo, Sounds like a proper nice bloke when you hear him on the radio..Worked wonders at Carlisle..Did crap at PNE. What's not to like?? hahaPaul Simpson for me, he's turned a side from relegation fodder to promotion candidates in 12 months or so.
No thank you been stealing a living promised promotion if they pushed the boat out and kept Brannigan, deserves the sack.Has left Oxford with immediate effect. Don’t dither, just go and get him now on a 2 year contract.
I just want a manager with personality, passion and not a grey has been as in past appointments

And what could be safer? In that case we've already got Starmer as Manager
so is my dogAnd what could be safer?
He doesn’t lie
Waste money
Cares about things and most of all people
Has good ideas
Is realistic
It's weird how, given the obsession on here with ex Pool players that Simmo who has done a brilliant job with Carlisle alnost never gets a mention.Appleton to resurface at Oxford then?

He doesn’t care about Jeremy Corblimey. Which is good. And what could be safer?

Loved Simmo as a player and he's had an up & down career as a manager/coach. If you look at the stats he actually did quite well at PNE top of the league at Christmas 2006 but they only signed 3 free transfer players in the Jan window and missed out on the play-offs on goal difference. They then sold Nugent and struggled and he was sacked in November. He did well with McClaren at Derby and won the U-20 World Cup as head coach with England. He's now doing well again at his home town club Carlisle in Lg 2 ....maybe that's his comfort zone? It's weird how, given the obsession on here with ex Pool players that Simmo who has done a brilliant job with Carlisle alnost never gets a mention.
I'm not saying Simmo would do a great job, but the number of times people ask for a 'dream team' of vastly under qualified players from the Prem team, you think he would get more noticed as like Wellens, and unlike some metioned he actually has a bit of a track record. Although, obviously, we'll ignore part of it...

Hope he enjoys League 2 the following seasonMy mate is an Oxford fan and he’s keen for Appleton to return to them!
Nathan Jones who has just left Premier league Southampton is going to go to a league one team who when they were in the championship lost their manager to go and be an assistant somewhere else partly due to how much bigger the wage was. Makes total sense.I’d be amazed if they didn’t go after Nathan Jones - like or loathe him he is more than proven at this level and if you want results, good football and a strong team both to win promotion and maintain championship status it’s a no brainier to appoint him ( if he wants it) . Nathan Jones failed at two ‘big clubs’ - he will not get another job in the prem. None of the big clubs in the Championship will touch him for the same reason. At best he will get a bottom third side in the Championship but aside from the clubs in trouble there may not be any opportunities. We will be desperate to get back asap and consolidate in the Championship after that, we are an ambitious club (new training ground and stand on the way) and he will have a very good budget for lg1. Therefore we are a very attractive prospect particularly if he wants a project. The reason Critchley left is completely immaterial in this instance and will have no bearing in whether Jones does/does not comeNathan Jones who has just left Premier league Southampton is going to go to a league one team who when they were in the championship lost their manager to go and be an assistant somewhere else partly due to how much bigger the wage was.
