Keith

It's on BBC iplayer. They got about 15 randomly chosen voters who had, at some point in the past, voted Labour. At the end they asked if Starmer had changed their mind. A couple raised their hands. They then asked if they were open to voting Labour and more than half raised their hands. Most said he came across as a nice guy but said he has a lot of work to do to gain back trust. The common denominator interestingly was not Brexit but Corbyn.
He needs to do more of these meeting the public. 15 people at the Winter Gardens with Laura Kuensberg doesn't prove anything one way or the other.
Some of these red wall majorities however are not massive but he's got his work cut out.

I listened to it on BBC sounds. Kuensberg was dreadful at the end just hammering "are you going to chuck out Corbyn, over and over and over. This is partly the problem in politics.the interviewer is more interested in the personality story than the policies. I just wanted to know what Keith's ideas were, how he was going to manage the jobs for u25s,what catch up for kids looks like etc and she just went for the jugular in a situation where it didn't seem merited at all.

Keith is just a big soppy wet lettuce as far as I can see.... He doesn't really appear to stand for a great deal and this whole "Tell me what you would vote for and I'll do that" kind of bollocks just reinforces the fanny that I think he is. If someone was to ask you the very simple question "What does Kier Starmers Labour Party Stand For?" then you wouldn't be able to give an answer... For all Corbyns numerous faults there was a clear and obvious political personality that he stood for....A reason to vote for him and also a reason to vote against.... Tony Blair was very much the same... Kier is pure vanilla and thats a reflection of his dull and uninteresting personality... He's innoffensive, but he's a loser.

So going to Oxford, becoming a Defence Lawyer and then a QC before being Director of Public Prosecutions and Head of the Crown Prosecution Service and being knighted for his work, only elected in 2015 he’s quickly gone on to become Leader of the Opposition makes him a loser, inoffensive he may be but rather him than the most offensive Prime Minister - now do I say since Thatcher, or ever?

I like Keir more now than when he was elected party leader. He seems like a gentleman and he's certainly a mile ahead of other Labour candidates in the way he presents himself. His problem is that both he and his party have no recognisable policies other than to take the opposite view from the government on every single issue. The voters recognised this a long time ago.

I didn't question his intelligence or his capabilities as a QC or whatever and clearly that is where his strengths might lie. I said he's a wet lettuce and (in the context of his labour leadership) a loser.

You can argue all you wan't, but I think it's a case of being honest with yourself and this idea that being not quite as shit as the current incumbent is a basis for getting elected doesn't wash....It's on Keith to demonstrate what he stands for and to convince people to vote for him and the reality is that he's absolutely 'beige' and relies on "Vote for me.... I might be shit and have fuck all to say, but at least I'm not Boris Johnson"...

The fact is, he's got no chance of winning an election and the Labour Party will be treading water until he takes his boring brand of nothing politics and fucks off.

With his CV the word "loser" is a very odd one to choose.

He might lack charisma, but I'd rather have substance, personally. On that measure he scores well against the PM.

So, here we have a thread that belongs in the GB News standards of reporting. Childish - tick. name-calling- tick, basically beneath contempt. I suggest the OP goes back to majoring in Janet & John.

Unfortunately that's what he is though.... He has that look of defeat in his eye.... I also disagree in terms of substance, he's acually completely lacking in that area too and that was my key point really...'What does Kier Starmer's Labour Stand For' .... It's a question that ought to be very easy to answer for any Political Party Leader or for that matter any Business Leader... There is no substance, it's just an airy fairy nothingness.

Whatever you might say about Boris, at least the Tory party comes with a sense of optimism and an ideology to get the Country moving.... I mean Corbyn wanted to drag us back into the Dark Ages and Starmer is so dull he looks like bores himself to death, never mind anyone else.

Don't get me wrong, he's no world beater. But he has a track record of achievement in his chosen field, doesn't he? And his career suggests that he cares quite a lot about social justice.

I'm not disputing his capabilities in his chosen field, though I'm not sure how well those translate to his current role...He's seems socially awkward to me and he also has that kind of Portilloesque effeminate southern weirdness about him and I'm not sure that will really go down well in the traditional Northern Labour heartlands. I appreciate those are observations about his persona, but I think it matters....

Boris's lovable rogue 'Tim Nice But Dim' persona is endearing to a certain extent and probably resonates much more with those voters. I think he also exudes a real sense of positivity. He clearly lacks integrity, but I'm not sure that necesarily matters as people look at him and think "yep. he's a bit of an insincere dick, but his hearts in the right place"

Freebied a ticket for the challenge Cup final today, typical politician owt for nowt. (That Includes all of them)
