Kemp as CF

I think we're likely to see some continuation of how we lined up today.
For whatever reason CJ wasn't at the races today at all, despite his assist. Maybe starting Kemp on the right on Tuesday would give CJ both a break and a kick up the arse.

Hamilton definitely contributed more when moved out on the right, even though I believe he prefers being central, yet I agree overall he looked worn down at times today. I think a rest might do him good cos either he's carrying a knock or he's not in great mental shape. Either way he looks like a man who needs a day off.

Could have been 2 or 3 assists though with some basic positioning sense from the CF
There was poor runs by Yates and poor choices of ball in to the box.

Trying to look at it positively, the above may improve when they build an understanding.

Yeah I agree it was a mix. Just think it’s more forgiveable for a winger to mess up the odd cross than for there to be a glaring hole in the middle every time he does get it right. I just think if we’re being balanced CJ is still one of our only good news stories of the season so far, and will benefit from continuing to play at this level every week rather than taking him out.
Players like Yates, where I think there’s a bit of a case of getting desperate and running out of ideas, definitely should be given time away from the starting line up to get back to basics.

Yates had a great opportunity to shoot when in the box and never pulled the trigger. Desperately short on confidence at the moment. But what do you do, bench him or keep playing him, eventually he will get his goal and I’m sure he will be off and running.

Yates is frustrating the life out of me. He can't seem to do anything right. I don't know what to suggest with him. His link up play is pish poor, he's greedy and never gets his head up and plays a simple pass to put a colleague in, he plays like he's in a frenzy and looks like he couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo.

But then his work rate is completely admirable - but that's just not enough.

Yates did well from the throw in today, to let the ball run to CJ for our goal.He was unlucky not to score against Lincoln when he hit the post.In my opinion it is the supply to him that is the problem.

I get that. And clearly he has moments. But he was pretty much our marquee signing and whether it's him or others he really desperately needs a goal. He's really had very few chances or shots on goal either. A puzzle NC needs to work out quickly.

I thought he was one of the few bright sparks in that dull first half. Took the ball several times surrounded by defenders & yet kept possession & leaps well to win headers he shouldn't win.
Unfortunately none of that happened in the box where you want your central striker to be.

I like him as a player but don't see him as a striker and I think in terms of the players development it would be unfair to put pressure on him to play in that role.
