Kev's staying home

Jamaica have confirmed that Kev hasn't been selected for their game and never was.
The bad news is; he's suffering from 2 injuries, and is nowhere near fit enough to return to training - will he ever play for us again? He isn't in the named squad ... should the club release him and use his wages on another midfielder?
Gazette reports Appleton as saying:
"He’s currently out with a stress fracture of the foot as well as a calf injury.
"Michael Appleton has been unable to provide an exact time frame on Stewart’s return, although Pool’s head coach recently said the midfielder was “a million miles away from being able to kick a ball".

They can’t release him, he’s under contract until next summer. The only thing they could do is pay up his contract, which would achieve nothing.

It would stop people talking about him. And if he can get fit he may find another club.

But the reality is that he's taking the piss, just accepting the contract even though he possibly spends most of his day on ....err..... the other job.

Let's just revisit the signing on announcement and see if there's any clues for what was to come....

Bloody hell, he used to at least be out for 6 months, play 5-10 games then be out another 6 months. Lately it seems like it's been more 8 months out 1 game then another injury immediately. I don't even remember him getting injured this time?, the fact that he's got TWO injuries now (from what? Is he REALLY clumsy?, did he drop a cup on his foot?) is depressingly predictable.

In a way , how upset it makes me is a compliment to how good he is.

He should do the decent thing and mutually cancel his contract, it's disgraceful the amount he's played and he's still taking a very good wage.
Nah, the club gave him a new 2 year contact when we were promoted - it's on the club. I'm sure he'd rather be fit and playing.

Do we actually know the terms of his contract? Maybe there’s an injury clause in it.
The thing with Stewart is he’s a very good player when he is fit so I can kind of understand the club wanting to hang on to him in the hope that at some point he repays their faith in him.

Get rid, easy decision.

Can he be used as a steward? The ones that sit around in bright vests doing very little?

Or get him on one of the turnstiles on match days? Got to be something that won’t damage his Weetabix legs that he can do to contribute something at least?

Maybe give him a mobility scooter and he can buzz up and down the Prom shouting the Charlie Patino song, drum up an atmosphere???

Maybe half again initially until he's up to full match fitness. Or possibly even a desk job or ticket office. At least it would make his football biography longer than 2 pages.

He reportedly has a property empire worth millions, so you do have to ask if he has the desire (and need) to play football and stay football fit. Maybe best for both parties, if he just retired and concentrated on his business.

That’s why I thought maybe he would be on a pay as you play or similar contract. He doesn’t appear to need the money but must still want to play and tbf is not too shabby when he does.

I hope the bulk of his wages with us is based on appearances, nearly 30 and he has played well under 150 times in his career!

Am I so gullible in thinking thinking he is just someone who has been hugely unlucky with his fitness and general conditioning? What footballer would not want to play football, however secure they were financially? I bet Kev would have loved to be able to turn out for us and also be in a fit state to play for Jamaica. I really don't think money has anything to do with it.

Kev is always in social media posting about his mega training sessions on the watt bike so surely his injury is not too serious?
