Nice gesture but how the hell can they generate so much income to be able to give that away on a few fair trade and organic food outlets?

Just out of interest. Has he paid inheritance tax on the land and property he inherited? Would be a nice lump which could certainly help nurses and teachers right now 👍
 
It's a good move.
I heard he was giving 1 billion p.a. to the public purse, the revenue from wind farms to be sited on his land. I hope that this is put into a sovereign wealth fund that pays for 18+ education for future generations.
However, I would respect him more if he would just pay tax on his earnings in the same way that everyone else has to, he has just avoided a massive inheritance tax bill because he is royal.

It’s windfall profits from wind farms and not his personal money. Obviously the huge increase in electricity costs have massively increase profits.
King Charles has asked for a surge in profits from six new offshore wind farms on the Crown Estate, worth £1bn, to be used for the "wider public good", rather than the Royal Family.
The cynic in me can’t help thinking more money for the treasury to help with levelling up the south east.

I don't think it belongs to him personally, it belongs to The Crown.
 
The Crown Estate is making a fortune from off-shore windfarms for doing nothing. They 'own' the seabed and lease it out to the energy generators.

This 'kind' pre-emptive gesture could well backfire as hopefully the general population might become more aware of the vast profits being made by the Crown Estate for no investment or risk. Obviously there will be those taken in by this and think how kind of the King to do this.
