Good bowling attack, not sure about the first 3 batsmen, all probably better down the order, but no options. Where's Wood?

Alex Davies is available but Lancs have chosen not to use him. We should pick the best available team, he is still a contracted Lancs player. Thank fuck Allott is leaving as director of cricket at the end of the season, because if I had to put money on who is being a ** here, Davies or Allott, my money would all be on Allott.

Warwicks start on 21 points, Lancs on 16.5.

For more on the events at Lancs see Lancs Action Group. You might not agree with everything they say. but there's some good behind the scenes info there

I think he picked up an injury in the Hundred mate hence not playing in the T20 match too.

Bohannon has done pretty well in the top 3 this season but without Jennings & Davies we look a bit light up top.

Definitely Allot the trouble causer here . . . more bothered about his own ego than Lancs doing well.

On the Lancs web site on Sat Davies was playing . . then on Sunday they announced he wasn't!!

Been reading tweets from Lancs Action Group. Leaving aside Allott, the admin from the club re ticket sales, information etc appears from a distance to be shambolic. The only thing the club seems to be interested in is selling tickets for the India Test,

What do those of you who go to the odd game think?

It's shocking mate . . . I've been a member for a number of years.

The membership I have is £165 a year so not ST prices but when covid hit we had no crowd admittance to any games last season they offered no option for a refund!! Personally I wouldn't have taken it but to not even given the option is just wrong. We got 25% off this year and a brick with our name on when they build the next new stand!!

This year I've just been to one home Lancs game - T20 v Yorks. They ran out of most beer options and it was only a 25% crowd!!

The web site is awful and only gives basic information.

The live streams have been great but not sure how much Lancs have got to do with this.

They do have some great people still there - Warren Hegg for example and to be fair to Glenn Chapple both seem like proper decent people.

It's no co-incidence that the seasons when we have won trophies we've had top level coaches - Peter Moores when we won the CC and Ashley Giles when we won the T20. Chapple needs more help (maybe someone like Katich or Law) from someone with international pedigree but that means a big wage which I don't think they'll do.

Personally I think we have the core of a great team with a good mixture of youth and experience but similar to the ECB the board at Lancs seem just to be bothered about making money and have little appreciation of the fans.

Finally a wicket, Saqib got Benjamin caught behind for 127.
Could use a strong finish to the day if only for a bit of momentum going in to tomorrow.

Off for the weather now…….can see this being a big problem with the end of this years Championship, given it’ll be almost October before it ends

You could roll your membership into 2021, as I did.

For obvious reasons this thread has took a bit of a back seat so thought I'd resurrect it.

After a big first innings from Warwicks Lancs battled hard to get close with Bohannon scoring 170!! Keep your mits off England!!

Warwicks 35-1 in response and a lead of 65.

Looking like a nailed on draw but a few quick wickets and you never know ?

One benefit of this mad season is that we have had the chance to see the next generation with players like Morley, Lavelle, Balderson, Hartley and Blatherwick given a chance. These will be needed with the international calls and now also the hundred taking Anderson, Buttler, Livingstone, Parkinson. Mahmood, Wood, Salt and Vilas. This is a problem when procuring overseas players as we found with Allen.

As regards to this match it was set up for Livingstone (and perhaps Davies!) to score quick runs for the extra bonus point. To me. it didn't seem he was too interested,

I don't understand where county cricket is heading really? With international teams soaking up more players more if the time, and the Hundred too, only the T20 Blast seems to have any real value for Lancs, and they lose players even for that. Am I seeing it wrong?

It seems you have to have a mix of older (past their best) players like Cook, Croft, Stevens, Lyth, Mullaney and youngsters like Bohannon, Brook, Lammonby, Milnes and the been there not done it like Vince, Duckett, Sibley. Bess. Even then, the hundred seems to hoover up players from each of these groups. Perhaps they should allot a period where each competition gets its own time slot with nothing else being played. The problem with that is the "specialists" would be left twiddling their thumbs.

I've been on the train a lot today so didn't catch much of the coverage but it was certainly set up for Livingstone to throw the bat. I did notice all his runs came in boundaries so suggest he wasn't holding back.

For whatever reasons it's never really happened for Livi with the red ball.

Well really the Hundred is the domestic comp which is being the most favourably treated. It has first dibs on players, leaving the remainder to play a second rate 50 over comp. And Leaving proper cricket grounds like Taunton to host second rate cricket during the school holidays.

I still value the County Championship and T20 blast. These are competitions worth winning. The thing is though, it doesn’t look like the ECB value the competitions, or the fans that come to the games, very much at all. Before people talk about a man and his dog at a 4 day game, let’s look at some facts. Both Lords and The Oval consistently sold out T20 blast games pre Covid. 25000 at those games. Many smaller counties did well out of the T20, Somerset Glos Kent Sussex and Essex regularly sold out.

The issue was that other big and small counties outside the South East and West didn’t do as well. The bigger counties struggled to sell out games that weren’t their local derby. Lancs only mission in life seemed to be to sell out the Roses Blast game when they had 6 other home games to promote in the Blast. I couldn’t understand that.

So, to reward some big counties (based in cities) who couldn't market the Blast successfully, the ECB introduced the Hundred which is a solely city based comp. And as a result the Blast was pushed into a smaller time window
meaning games would be played all week rather than primarily between Thursday-Sunday, and not during the school holidays. Thus starting to impact on gates at those games, where people are now asked to pay for 2-3 home games in maybe 10 days.

The County Championship is a great competition if you are a cricket purist. There is a time and a place for it, and certainly September is a month in which it can be played. But the constant tinkering with its format (understandable in Covid times but not otherwise) is starting to try even the patience of a purist like me.

The thing about cricket is that it is a great game and has the beauty of different formats which interest different people.
Whilst I didn’t watch the Hundred, the cricket itself was supposed to be fantastic.

What I can’t understand is that cricket seems to be run by people who don’t have confidence in the entertainment value of cricket. Who feel that cricket in whatever format is not enough to get people to the ground. Who feel the need to have bands on, or invent team names or employ consultants to come up with brands for a team. That smacks of a game that has lost its way.
