Nope Larry - no one gave a rat's ass about that - it's just you came back, looked bored, played terrible football, got crap results and we here for the money!

Walking out and managing Preston didn't exactly boost the goodwill factor.

I agree with this assessment to be honest. I had no issue with his appointment, on the face of it he had a track record of getting up from L1 (if you can do it at PNE you can do it anywhere). I'm not the sort who cares where a player or manager has been before, I have a brain and can work out that fans view is not the same as the people who get paid by this industry.

But he seemed to be completely lacking in motivation, ideas and energy sadly so he turned out to be a dismal failure.

I actually thought Appleton was more unlucky. We weren't that bad even when seemingly every key signing he made got injured after about 20 minutes. In a just slightly different set of circumstances, he could have been ok.

Just like at Charlton.

It wasn't just managing the nobbers, it was the way he couldn't bring himself to even say our name when being interviewed on Radio Blackburn, he always referred to us as "them down road", classless........

He also missed the part about Tony Parkes playing a big part in his success, and that he wasn’t the main factor that ‘set up’ Holloway for the Prem. He’s far too full of his own importance in that article.
Did well getting us promoted, but after that, he’s an irrelevance.
He missed the bit about playing Vaughan in the wrong position too.

I think that was John Beck? Here for example Larry mentions us by name.

I personally could see the benefits of reappointing him but history tells you this rarely works second time around. Before anyone coughs NC, it depends on your ambition or a safe pair of hands 😜

Either way - he did do a huge spunk off when they scored against us. I think it was the cup with Ince as manager.
Yeah, to be honest I never took to him after he left us for Leeds. I get the bit about him and Leeds but to be honest, he never endeared himself to us fans when he came back did he?

Difference with Critchley is it's only 12 months.

One former PNE manager referred to us as 'that lot with the tower'. Gary Peters rings a bell. Think he might have been Beck's assistant before he was their manager.

At the time fans understood why he went to Leeds, his boyhood club. Anything after that is immaterial.

It was Peters. He said in an interview that he would never mention us by name as Preston fans didn't like us. Completely unprofessional and childish. They have a habit of picking arseholes as managers ( Craig Brown and Frankie McAvoy excepted) and you could easily see the current incumbent being as pathetic as Peters.

All was forgiven Larry on the 3/11/11 when we gave your Leeds team a proper drilling at Elland Road which played a part in your sacking just a couple of months later
Lua Lua’s goal celebration was worth the trip alone. Stewards were utter twats with the ‘stand up sit down’ bollox tho.

That goal celebration when manager at p n e should have excluded him from even entering Blackpool ever again
Showed how out of touch with B F C the board were

Yes it was Peters, followed on from Beck.

Used to constantly refer to "our wonderful supporters".
