You may have heard about our very popular Fit Blackpool weight management programme but have you heard about our new Football specific Fit Blackpool?

FFIT Fans was developed and launched in 2018 as a male-specific weight management programme. Due to being a huge success and an increase in popularity, the programme was opened up to everyone and rebranded as FIT Blackpool. Since then, the programme has continued to grow strength by strength. To date, over 500 local people have taken part in the free programme.

FIT Blackpool is a free 12-week weight management and healthy lifestyle programme. We have decided to bring FIT Blackpool back to its roots and develop a football-specific FIT Blackpool session.

Football is at the core of many communities. Whether people support the same team or their rivals, an interest in football is shared by many. We aim to bring the people who love football together, supporting each other to reach their goals.

This session will combine both workshop-based interventions, as well as a free weekly football session to aid your weight loss. Some of the topics that are covered are; nutrition, barriers to a healthy lifestyle, portion sizes and alcohol. As well as this, a person-specific calorie sheet is given to aid in the journey to a healthier lifestyle. Football is a great way to get the body moving, as well enjoying healthy competition between other group members.

Seb, Community Engagement Team Leader said, “This concept has been in the pipeline for a while now, so I am looking forward to it officially starting. Football is the biggest sport in the world, to use this as a tool to support people along their weight loss journey is really exciting”.

How can you get involved?

Starting on Tuesday 24th May, Blackpool FC Community Trust are launching a brand new football-specific FIT Blackpool programme. The sessions will take place on Tuesday evenings, 19:00-20:30.

The programme will consist of 30 minutes workshop on healthy lifestyle choices, followed by an hours free football on Blackpool and Fylde College’s 4G Astroturf in Bispham.

This is the perfect opportunity for someone who loves football and wants to get moving, as well as wanting to lose some weight in the process.

The programme will be for males 18+ with a BMI of 25 or above.
