Absolutely. Very impressive debut.Came on looked hungry eager and skilful
Just what we want .
This lad will terrorise championship defences this season
Had a bit of the Omerods about him? Obviously he’s got a long long way to go before he’s close to Sir Brett but today was a good first step.Absolutely. Very impressive debut.
Definately only time we had any real fluidity .NC needs to pair him with Yates from the start
Agree. They obviously had a rapport.NC needs to pair him with Yates from the start
He would terrify any defence. I can’t understand why Everton let him go or why more clubs weren’t after him before he signed for us. Mind you I’m glad they weren’t.Came on looked hungry eager and skilful

That would be my guess as well. Reckon half a dozen matches before we see them both from the startHope I am wrong but just have a feeling we might have to wait a while before NC decides to start them both together.
Good ball in, mind.Had a bit of the Omerods about him? Obviously he’s got a long long way to go before he’s close to Sir Brett but today was a good first step.
Front post run to score too - that’s an instinctive strikers finish
looking at his build i think he will be hard to knock off the ballLavery reminded me of Franny Lee. Now he was a player.
Loads of clubs were monitoring him Blackpool took the plunge, looks like a great signing, only 22 as wellHe would terrify any defence. I can’t understand why Everton let him go or why more clubs weren’t after him before he signed for us. Mind you I’m glad they weren’t.
Lest not forget Critch signed him so will want him in the team performing like that as soon as he is ready for 90 mins championship football.Hope I am wrong but just have a feeling we might have to wait a while before NC decides to start them both together.
I remember another former N.I player (James Quinn) who was brilliant as a last 20 mins impact substitute, but he just wasn't anywhere near the same for 90 mins.Lest not forget Critch signed him so will want him in the team performing like that as soon as he is ready for 90 mins championship football.

Hoping Laverty is a 90 mins player.
However, we've shown with Yates that we're willing these days to offer improved contracts to those we deem to be worth it if they do well, even if they still have years left with us.We have him on 2 year deal plus one year option.
Interesting its 'only' that and not 3. But still a long time and whose value is only going to rise.
Yes after he left Everton he went back to the Irish lge to help him get back to England as Irish lge is a tough lge and helped him abit to move back across , Glad to see him joining the poolWas impressed with his attitude towards improving his strength and conditioning knowing he'd likely get a move back to england this summer. Putting the work in to better himself.
How do you know more clubs were not in for him?He would terrify any defence. I can’t understand why Everton let him go or why more clubs weren’t after him before he signed for us. Mind you I’m glad they weren’t.
Other clubs were ‘monitoring’ him but we were the only one who made a concrete offer. How do you know more clubs were not in for him?
As well as his speed, he has something that can’t be taught, a strikers instinct. He knows where the goal is without really looking. The situation suited him, we had to press for an equaliser and running at tired legs is a lot easier than at the start of the game. That isn't to take away from the impact he made, he clearly has good feet, protects the ball very well and a nice turn of pace. If he's used as an impact sub initially I wouldn't be surprised but eventually I think we could have a real player on our hands. Delighted for the lad.
