League of Ireland

From time to time this season I've found myself tuning into assorted league of Ireland matches .
Tight grounds , vocal support , not that great a standard but pretty watchable all the same . Most of the teams just try to play fast , aggressive attacking football. Naïve at times but refreshing all the same .
Bear in mind that Lincoln seem to be constituted of about half their team scouted in Ireland I wonder should we be asking Shane about any of his mates for next season?
Has anyone else watched Sligo , Galway , Linfield, Shamrock Rovers etc . Any unpolished diamonds spotted for Critch to fine polish 😄🤣😞

You can't watch much of it. Shane Lavery is from Northern Ireland and so are Linfield. Neither of whom are anything to do with the League of Ireland. I watched Shelbourne v Bohemians recently. Local Dublin Derby, in front of a crowd of less than 5,000. Bohemians fans were kept behind for 30mins after the game to avoid problems. And recently, I think it was Shelbourne fans who were banned from travelling to an away game following an official being hit by a pyrotechnic the week before.

We've already got the best player from the League in Andy Lyons but Critchley decided not to play him regularly, even though he was one of our better players in the latter half of last season. Unfortunately he got injured. Fleetwood got the rest of them from their link up with Waterford through Pilley. Look where that's got them.

Lincoln have 5 Irish players in their squad, some of whom were picked up at 17/18, but most signed in their early 20s with a couple of LOI seasons behind them. Paudie O’Connor who was on loan at Blackpool is the exception to this.
The idea of giving these players a chance in the EFL with the chance for an onward sale seems a sound idea to me.

I was in Cheltenham on Saturday (lived there in the past) and saw the crucial Cheltenham v Lincoln game. Cheltenham were much the better team for 40 minutes and led 1-0. They had a very good chance to make it 2-0, missed it, and Lincoln went 90 yards to score. Game turned on that moment. Lincoln ran the second half.

Looking at Lincoln I could see them giving Bolton a decent game in the play offs but maybe not winning. I hope they feck it up on Saturday but I doubt they will. We will have to hope that Oxford and Barnsley make a mess of it…
