League One Winners Prediction

Who is everyone going for then? Who do we all fancy. Blackpool is a too obvious answer and so we’ll take for granted we’ll win this thing but if not us then who is your money on?

Think it’s finally Portsmouth’s year myself - they rarely seem to get off to a good start and maybe like Ipswich last year they’ll finally get going early doors.

Blackpool, it might be an obvious answer but for the first time in my 35+ years I genuinely think it could be our year, particularly If (as expected) we add a couple more

Oxford are going to be a handful as are Peterborough (they are every year). Still think Derby will romp the league this year along with Notlob. Evo has a good thing going and they have added some good signings.

Blackpool, Derby and Pompey top 3 teams.

IF we sign a decent striker to replace Jerry then we win the league, simples.

If we don't sign a striker We may, just come up short, probably to the two teams mentioned.

Could well be us but Derby Posh and Portsmouth will be there or thereabouts. Surprise package could be Bristol Roversat a guess. As others have mentioned we're short of a winger and striker. Get those right we could win it.

It won't be us unless we get a quality striker in who isn't as physically lightweight as Beesley.

Barnsley is my prediction

Derby because of Coach, Signings and Fans - think they had a season of transition last time but they are now a serious force who I think will walk this leave and then be a threat in the Championship.

I havent got a clue tbh! I see it as a 9 horse race. 😀

Blackpool Portsmouth Derby Bolton Charlton Oxford
Reading Barnsley Peterboro

Of those i think Reading and Barnsley have some problems to overcome. Peterboro losing players and will be smarting from the play offs. So I'm down to a top 6. Too early to decide an order. We need more up top to get a top two place so lets see who we bring in.

Wild stab: i think we have a very steely Critch back at the club and a strong base to the side and a couple of smart loan signings up front and there will be nobody better than us. It might not seem like that in August and September.

Oxford will be up there challenging with their good signings and manager and for a surprise high end achiever I would say Leyton Orient if they keep Wellens.

Current squad we’ll be lucky to make the playoffs.

Add those 3/4 players of quality we lack then we should be up there.
It’s a very weak division and there isn’t a single team who we should be threatened by.

If not us I’d say perm any from 10. It’s wide open.

Charlton. Club is much more settled now and they've made some good signings to add to a team that underperformed last year.

I think there'll be a few surprises this year. Derby fans are saying they haven't a striker, Bolton might well lose Santos, Pompey fans are concerned if the side will gel (again!) and Reading and Wigan will be unlikely Top 6 sides. I reckon there'll be a random side who'll make a good fist of it but it's all to play for - tomorrow will be another learning curve but I hope we don't get to Jan, bring in a Simms type character again and then regret not having that player now.

Why are people saying Derby? Have they not lost about 4 or more key players? Maybe I've missed something but David McGoldrick hasn't been replaced. Nor has Jason Knight/Curtis Davies etc. They'll be up there perhaps but it doesn't look anything special at all.

They've replaced James Chester and Curtis Davies with Curtis Nelson and Sonny Bradley, huge downgrades.

Unless we replace Yates with a 20 goal striker it won’t be us (as well as Joseph if he’s fit). I’ve a soft spot for Pompey or failing them Derby or Oxford.

20 goal strikers are like rocking horse shit.
There are 2 or 3 a season that hit 20 goals.
Better to have 2 or 3 15 goal / season forwards

I think Pompey may be the side to beat this season. Finished very strongly after the change of head coach last season and some decent signings this summer.

I have a couple of mates who are Tyke STHs and they are really worried.
Manager gone, their CHs who they reckon were the best in the league both sold and replaced with non league signings.
They have also reported themselves to the league after discovering some wrong doings by their previous Chinese owners.
I hope Oxfraud won't be up there but they have added well to ensure another poor seasons is not repeated.

im expecting shayne to really step up, keeping yates would have been a massive boon and ive not felt as disappointed in a player leaving since Mickey walsh left when i was about 9 years old. wouldnt suprise me though if shayne hits 30ish goals this season.

Derby and Bolton are the bookies favourites. Both obvious choices having finished in the top 7 last season. Portsmouth, Oxford and Charlton all appear to have recruited well. Barnsley and Peterborough having finished in the top 6 will all have ambitions to achieve the same. Reading and Wigan both have off field issues and possible points deduction for Reading to come, so I doubt they'll be competing for the top 2 but wouldn't bet against them being around the top 6 come the end of the season.

As for ourselves, I think we are an experienced striker and another wide option (Banks) off being a real threat.

My top 6:

Blackpool
Bolton
Derby
Portsmouth
Charlton
Barnsley

Pompey
Pool
Notlob
Derby
Oxford
Charlton

I have a weird feeling that we will have an almighty battle with Evo's Bolton for the automatic spot. 🤓

I think if we add a proper centre forward we will be top 2. We are coming down with a chunk of championship experienced players who finished 16th with Critch - derby/bolton haven’t improved drastically on their league 1 squads from last year. And I think we have the best manager in the league.
