Yesterday, we revealed how the Championship table would look if results were based on xG rather than goals. We love xG here at The Real EFL. It's a metric used to determine the quality of a chance and the likelihood of a goal being scored. For instance, we all saw Dion Charles miss for Bolton

Exactly the type of stat, amongst others, that have led to Brighton and Brentford outperforming their more illustrious and old fashioned rivals.

Glad some of your aren’t in control of recruitment, which would probably involves looking at the top scorers list and nothing more.

What's silly about it? It's simply a stat which says how many goals a team have been expected to score based on chances created. Allows you to see which teams are most and least clinical.

Given how little we created in the first 6 or 7 games I’d suggest, taking the stat at face value, it’s a reasonably good omen for the second half of the season. Formation is making more sense to the players, handbrake is off and assuming Joseph can bed in with a retained Rhodes there’s cause for optimism

They had an XG of 0.02 for a match a couple of weeks ago, which translates to 2 goals a season.

Which means with a team performing with a high xG and a striker who also regularly converts low xG then we’re going up
