Bugger. Drove the minibus home to the tune of text messages all the way back to around Manchester-they only sound I could hear in the stony silence.
Worst bit was going past the Red Lion as the BSA coach pulled up, with people in orange football shirts high fiving and embracing as they were picked up.

What did everyone think of Shelvey? Always seemed a good playmaker/scorer from midfield but didn't stay long?

He was great, a real presence, got recalled to the Scousers pretty quick because they were short.

The highlight for me was the fish display in Morrison's the following day, when the salmon fillets were rearranged into the shape of a 0 and a 5. Brilliant. I'll dig out the picture.

That was the week I came to pick up t'Yarkshire Seasiders if you recall for the game at Burnley the previous Saturday. What a transformation from that game with one or two sat with us having a go at Ian Holloway.
By the time I got back to Burnley to pick up southshorepool we literally did have to pick him up

What an absolute tool of a ref. So he blew the whistle for Shelvey to take the pen but through absolute no fault of our own it had to be retaken because the ref didn’t check the player he just sent off actually left?

Always remember the Leeds fan that was in the same hotel as us on holiday at the end of that season, he told me it was the biggest pasting he'd every witnessed at Elland Rd and what an amazing side he thought we had.
